TABREED (AUS) (M Dwyer) shifted outwards and made contact with OTRANTO (USA) (A Ajtebi) on jumping. Approaching the 1400m, OTRANTO (USA) and MEDIA STORY (USA) (W Supple) made contact. MELODIC SCORE (USA) (R Ffrench) was inclined to lay inwards over the final 600m, resulting in Jockey R Ffrench having to stop riding the colt and straighten it on several occasions. LUCKY RAY (ARG) (G Birrer) rolled inwards passing the 400m and crowded OTRANTO (USA).

MULAQAT (GB) (R Cleary) was slow to begin. RED DUSTER (USA) (T Durcan) had a tendency to race keenly in the middle stages. ANANI (USA) (W Smith) lay inwards over the final 400m. Jockey M Dwyer (GHARIR [IRE]) was fined AED 1500 for breaching ERA Instruction 8 (ii) (h) in that he used his whip with his arm extended above shoulder height. When questioned regarding the performance of MUTASALLIL (USA), Jockey D O'Donohoe stated that the horse had traveled well in running but when put under pressure in the straight had failed to respond as he would have liked and had tired over the final 200m.

Trainer Mr D Watson was advised that the horse would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. SLEEPING WEAPON (USA) then commenced awkwardly and lost ground. When questioned regarding the performance of SLEEPING WEAPON (USA), jockey D O'Donohoe stated that after commencing awkwardly the horse was never able to keep pace with the field and had dropped out quite badly. A post race veterinary examination of SLEEPING WEAPON (USA) revealed no abnormalities. AAMAAQ (GB) (R Ffrench) hung outwards badly throughout.
