On the way to the start, Jockey J McGinn was dislodged from LE GUESTA BAILAR (US). Jockey J McGinn was quickly able to remount the filly and proceed to the start. EURO GOLD (GB) (S Al Taleei) jumped awkwardly and then veered outwards sharply and lost ground. Approaching the 1000m, MEN DU DHABI (FR) (W Matee) held PAMELA DU CLOS (FR) (R Ffrench) tight with that mare then steadying inwards, at the same time LE GUESTA BAILAR (US) (J McGinn) which had been racing keenly, shifted outwards when brushed on its inside by ROMANCE DE FAUST (FR) (A Ajtebi) after that mare had rolled outwards whilst improving her position. As a result, PAMELA DU CLOS (FR) and LE GUESTA BAILAR (US) were crowded for room and made contact with each other, having to be restrained and lose ground. On enquiry the Stewards determined that they could not blame any one rider for the cause of this incident although Apprentice A Ajtebi and Jockey W Matee were advised to ensure their fellow riders are given sufficient racing room. FAREQ (AE) (G Birrer) lay outwards in the straight. CHINOIS AL MAURY (FR) (L Bester) had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight. FAREQ (AE) returned with a cut to its tongue.

CITY QUEEN (URU) (W Smith) was crowded for room on jumping. JAP AJEEB (UAE) (D Badel) raced greenly in the early stages. SALMAN (AUS) (F Jara) was slow to begin. Jockey D O’Donohoe reported that WESTERN ACADEMY (USA) hung outwards in the straight.

QUORUM (GER) (M Phillips) brushed the rail near the 1000m. DELUDE (IRE) (M O’Callaghan) had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight. When questioned regarding the performance of QUORUM (GER), jockey M Phillips advised that he was instructed to position the gelding on the pace but after jumping well QUORUM (GER) was unable to show sufficient speed to be where he would have liked. He further stated that after passing the 800m when urged along, QUORUM (GER) did not respond as well as he would have expected. A post race veterinary examination of QUORUM (GER) revealed no abnormalities.
