VITE ROYALE (US) (W Smith) was slow into stride. Approaching the 1000m, FIRSTWAN (FR) (R Ffrench) which had been racing keenly, rolled outwards, at the same time ALASIL (GB) (D Smith) shifted inwards slightly. This caused OUASSILA THABET (FR) (T O’Shea) to be steadied inwards away from ALASIL (GB) and in doing so crowd BAHER (FR) (T Durcan) for room, with that horse having to be steadied and lose ground. On enquiry, it was established that at this stage of the race BAHER (FR) had been struggling to maintain its position and when crowded for room by runners on its inside and outside, had to steady and lose ground. As such, the Stewards were satisfied that no one rider could be blamed for this incident and took no further action. At the 1000m, CES BON (US) (R Burke) was tightened for room to the inside of FRYVOLOUS (FR) (D O’Donohoe) and lost ground. On enquiry, it was established that FRYVOLOUS (FR) had rolled inwards marginally when making the turn, at the same time CES BON (US) shifted outwards slightly and then steadied itself outwards off the heels of FRYVOLOUS (FR). Jockey F Jara (PARIS GAGNER [FR]) dropped his whip near the 100m. WAR SILKS (US) (A Ajtebi) returned with a cut to its right fore.

Trainer Mr D Selvaratnam was advised that HADAHOO (USA) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. VALIANCE (USA) (D O’Donohoe) jumped awkwardly, shifting outwards and making contact to the hind quarters of ARMINIUS (IRE) (A Ajtebi). A post race veterinary examination of HADAHOO (USA) revealed the gelding to be lame in the left hind and to also have suffered lacerations to its left hind and have a cut to its mouth. Trainer Mr D Selvaratnam was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse being permitted to be entered to race again.
