PLAVIUS (USA) (A Ajtebi) jumped awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance of AMIGO DO PARK (BRZ), Jockey A Nicholls stated that the colt had never felt comfortable in its action during the race. A post race veterinary examination of AMIGO DO PARK (BRZ) revealed no abnormalities. PLAVIUS (USA) returned with a cut to its left stifle.

Passing the winning post the first time, ARQAAM (GB) (R Hills) threw its head in the air for a short distance. Jockey W Buick (HAWKS HOME [USA]) was reprimanded in relation to using his whip with excessive frequency. A post race veterinary examination of MUTAJAMMEL (FR) (T O’Shea) revealed no abnormalities.

SAMA DUBAI (AUS) (K Latham) was fractious when leaving the saddling enclosure and was then reluctant to make its way onto the track. Trainer Mr A Selvaratnam was advised that SAMA DUBAI (AUS) would be required to complete satisfactory paddock schooling prior to being entered to race again. SAND CAT (GB) (D O’Donohoe) blundered on jumping. KEPT FAITH (IRE) (A Ajtebi) shifted inwards at the start and bumped SAMA DUBAI (AUS). CELTIC KING (GB) (W Smith) raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination of KEPT FAITH (IRE) revealed the gelding to have a small cut to the right fore fetlock. Late Report ZAJEL (AUS) bled from both nostrils during track work at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse on 18th December 2008. Trainer Mr M de Kock was advised that ZAJEL (AUS) would not be permitted to start for 21 days and must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of an ERA Veterinary Officer prior to being entered to a race again.
