GRP MONDIAL GHANTOOT (AE) (S Gorey) was fractious in the gates and was then slow into stride. Shortly after the start, VUNDABA (US) (W Buick), HILAL AL EID (AE) (D Badel) and BILLAMUNAZZE (AE) (A Ajtebi) raced tightly. At the same time, DJOUMIS DE LEYRE (FR) (M Henry) which had commenced to hang outwards, tightened SCHEHERAZADE MONLAU (FR) (S Doyle) onto the hind quarters of BILLAMUNAZZE (AE). HILAL AL EID (AE) was then ridden vigorously to hold its position and in doing so tightened BILLAMUNAZZE (AE) which had to be restrained and make contact with SCHEHERAZADE MONLAU (FR), which lost ground. On enquiry the Stewards were of the opinion that a number of factors had contributed to this incident and were unable to lay blame on any one rider. Shortly after this, VUNDABA (US) commenced to hang outwards badly and making the turn at the 1000m carried ALASIL (GB) (R Mullen) wide with that gelding having to be steadied. Approaching the 1000m, CS CHARMA (GB) (R Ffrench) commenced to shift ground and bumped on several occasions with NASHVILLE (FR) (L Jones). Passing the 300m, PRINCE DE FAUST (FR) (S Al Taleei) was momentarily steadied from the hind quarters of SCHEHERAZADE MONLAU (FR). AHMADANI MUSAFER (AE) (W Smith) raced wide throughout. Jockey W Buick reported that VUNDABA (US) hung outwards for the entire race. A post race veterinary examination of MURAWIH (FR) (T O’Shea) revealed the horse to be lame in left fore. Trainer Mr E Lemartinel was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse being permitted to be entered to race again.

Shortly after the start, GALFAR (GB) (T O’Shea) shifted inwards causing RAFFASS (GB) (W Buick) to be eased. Approaching the 1400m, RAGAD (GB) (F Jara) shifted inwards onto STEP IN LINE (USA) (A Ajtebi), which then resulted in SEEKING AN ALIBI (USA) (W Supple) which was racing on the inside of STEP IN LINE (USA), having to be steadied. On enquiry, stewards issued a warning to Jockey F Jara (RAGAD [GB]) and advised that he must ensure he is clear of runners before shifting ground in future. RAGAD (GB) (F Jara) returned having bled during running and also having lost its right fore plate. Trainer Mr D Watson was advised that RAGAD (GB) would not be permitted to start for 21 days and must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of an ERA Veterinary Officer prior to being entered to a race again.
