SALSABEEL AL AIN (IRE) (L Jones) dwelt on jumping and lost considerable ground. Trainer Mr M Hussain was advised that SALSABEEL AL AIN (IRE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. DIAL DIRECT (GB) (G Temperini) and FEATHERED CROWN (FR) (D O’Donohoe) were both slow into stride. In the early parts of the straight, AL WUJOOD (IRE) had a tendency to lay inwards. Passing the 250m, AL WUJOOD (IRE) when struck with the whip by Jockey R Burke in his left hand commenced to shift outwards. Shortly after this, AL WUJOOD (IRE) veered outwards dramatically and in doing so inconvenienced DR SMART (IRE) (R Ffrench) and as a consequence KALA KANTA (IRE) (R Mullen) was obliged to change course. The Stewards inquired into Jockey R Burke’s handling of AL WUJOOD (IRE) passing the winning post. After considering the evidence presented, Jockey R Burke was fined AED 1,500 under ERA Rule 100 (iii) as his action to strike AL WUJOOD (IRE) with his hand upon pulling up was considered to be conduct that was prejudicial to the image of racing.

SAND CAT (GB) (D O’Donohoe) and SHAHIN SHAH (FR) (R Mullen) bumped near the 1200m. Passing the 200m, SEEKING AN ALIBI (USA) (A Ajtebi) shifted outwards and made contact with SAND CAT (GB).

MILITARY POWER (GB) (A Ajtebi) shifted outwards on jumping inconveniencing LEITMOTIV (IRE) (W Smith). LIMEHOUSE (SAF) (K Shea) over-raced in the early stages. Passing the 1700m, MUTASALLIL (USA) (R Hills) when shifting inwards carried MILITARY POWER (GB) (A Ajtebi) inwards and in doing so caused ROCHDALE (GB) (R Ffrench), which had been racing keenly, to momentarily steady. Shortly after this, CRAIGSTOWN (GB) (T O’Shea) which had also been racing keenly had to be steadied when crowded by MILITARY POWER (GB) which had been influenced in by MUTASALLIL (USA). On enquiry, Stewards took into consideration the fact that CRAIGSTOWN (GB) and ROCHDALE (GB) had been racing keenly prior to this incident occurring. However, Stewards issued a warning to Jockey R Hills (MUTASALLIL [USA]) and advised him he must ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground in future. Passing the 300m, LEITMOTIV (IRE) commenced to shift inwards and in doing so influenced ROCHDALE (GB) in. At the same time, PARNASSUS (SAF) (R Mullen) had been inclined to hang inwards away from NOBEL BEDOUIN (IRE) (J Verenzuela) on its outside and in doing so shifted in onto the tiring MUTASALLIL (USA) (R Hills), which had to be restrained. On enquiry stewards reprimanded Jockey W Smith (LEITMOTIV [IRE]) for failing to straighten his mount when it shifted ground. A post race veterinary examination of CLASP (GB) (F Jara) revealed no abnormalities although Trainer Mr D Watson advised that the gelding may not have appreciated racing twice in the space of 7 days. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MILITARY POWER (GB), Apprentice A Ajtebi could offer no excuses. A post race veterinary examination of MILITARY POWER (GB) revealed no abnormalities

After being loaded into the starting gates, FLEURIE (GB) (R Burke) became very fractious. Trainer Mr R Bouresly was advised that FLEURIE (GB) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. CONQUEST (IRE) (A Ajtebi) and FELIX (PER) (C Sadoval) were both fractious in the gates. Trainer Mr M bin Shafya was advised that he must attempt to rectify the starting gate manners of CONQUEST (IRE) and FELIX (PER) prior to racing again. CHANGE ALLEY (USA) (R Ffrench) was crowded for room shortly after the start. FELIX (PER) hung inwards throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of INSTANT RECALL (IRE), Jockey W Smith advised that in his opinion the gelding was unsuited to racing on the dirt.
