AMALIA (FR) (J Rosales) was slow into stride. Between the 800m and 600m, MILAN GHANTOOT (AE) (W Smith) was held tight by PONY EXPRES HIPOLYTE (FR) (S Al Reffai) which was racing to its outside and then near the 500m, PONY EXPRES HIPOLYTE (FR) shifted inwards which caused MILAN GHANTOOT (AE) to be restrained and lose its position. On enquiry, it was established that although held tight for room MILAN GHANTOOT (AE) had contributed to the incident when it had lost its action. Near the 400m, PONY EXPRES HIPOLYTE (FR) again shifted inwards tightening SHARUDY (US) (C Taylor) which had to be steadied. Passing the 250m, PONY EXPRES HIPOLYTE (FR) was taken outwards and in doing so caused MILAN GHANTOOT (AE) to be checked and lose ground. On enquiry, Jockey S Al Reffai (PONY EXPRES HIPOLYTE [FR]) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Nad Al Sheba January 1, 2009 & Jebel Ali January2 , 2009). JAREE (GB) (T Smith) raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination of MILAN GHANTOOT (AE) revealed the horse to be lame in the left fore. Trainer Mr A Al Shamsi was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse being permitted to be entered to race again.

Approaching the 1000m, RS SANJAR (AE) (C Taylor) was restrained and in doing so caused MUNAFIS (AE) (T O’Shea) which was following to be steadied and lose its position. LAMEAA (FR) (S Al Taleei) was slow to begin. Making the turn into the straight, CS CHARMA (GB) (A Ajtebi) which had a tendency to shift ground, rolled outwards slightly when struggling to hold its position and in doing so caused AF MAYA HAB (AE) (D O’Donohoe) to be steadied and move outwards. This in turn caused RAFED (AE) (T O’Shea) to be restrained and take evasive action and bump heavily with the hind quarters of PALAPAL (GB) (R Ffrench) with that horse then becoming unbalanced and shift outwards onto LAMEAA (FR) which was checked and forced wide on the track. When assessing the cause of this incident, the Stewards were unable to lay blame on any one rider and determined that the interference was due to a combination of horses not racing tractable and also racing tight on a bend. RAFED (AE) returned having lost its left hind plate in running and a loosened right fore plate. WAYNE ROONEY (FR) (T Durcan) lay inwards in the straight.

AYHAM AL NAIF (QA) (S Al Taleei) was unable to be loaded and was subsequently withdrawn at 7:07 pm. Trainer Mr M Kettle was advised that AYHAM AL NAIF (QA) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. ELA’ASOOF (FR) (X Ziani) was hard to load. Trainer Mr S Hawaa was advised that ELA’ASOOF (FR) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. AF SADAA (AE) (M Zouar) was hard to load and was then fractious in the gates. Trainer Mr O D Mohammed was advised that AF SADAA (AE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. AFDAL THANI (AE) raced greenly in the straight. Following running of this race, Jockey M Zouar was attended to by the club’s Medical Officer for an injury to his face which was sustained in the starting gates and was subsequently relieved of his remaining riding engagements.
