After weighing out for this race, Jockey R Ffrench became unwell and was examined by the club’s medical officer and was deemed unfit to fulfill his engagements. Jockey R Ffrench was advised that he must produce a medical clearance prior to riding again. Apprentice S Gorey was given permission to replace Jockey R Ffrench on RS RAIS (AE) as there was no other Jockey readily available. WAID (AE) (D O’Donohoe) and AF MUKALLAF (AE) (A Nicholls) bumped on jumping. RS KHATTAR (AE) (S Al Taleei), RAINBOW (AE) (L Jones), and JM BARRAK (AE) (R Mullen) were slow to begin. Near the 1400m, JM BARRAK (AE) commenced to hang outwards and in doing so carried AF MUKALLAF (AE) wide on the track. Passing the 300m, MUNEERAH W’RSAN (AE) (R Burke) veered outwards quickly bumping with WAID (AE).

Jockey T Durcan reported that JAREH (QA) hung outwards in running. MUSALLAH (AE) (S Al Reffai) returned having lost its right hind plate. SHOOF ELAJAB (FR) (D O’Donohoe) returned lame in the left fore. Trainer Mr R Simpson was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the colt being permitted to be entered to race again.

INTISSAR W’RSAN (AE) (T O’Shea) was hard to load. Trainer Ms J Wickham was advised that INTISSAR W’RSAN (AE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. NAWARA (FR) (W Supple) and SS HALIMA (AE) (X Ziani) were slow to begin. Running to the turn near the 1000m, LIMETED EDITION (GB) (S Al Taleei) held WADHAH W’RSAN (AE) (R Mullen) tight on its inside which resulted in that filly then crowding AF KALRAMI (AE) (T Durcan) onto SHAMA (AE) (C Taylor). Shortly after this, LIMETED EDITION (GB) continued to hold runners on its inside tight and near the 900m shifted inwards causing WADHAH W’RSAN (AE) to be restrained and lose its racing position. On enquiry, Apprentice S Al Taleei (LIMETED EDITION [GB]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69 (i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Nad Al Sheba February 12, 2009 and Jebel Ali February 13, 2009). INTISSAR W’RSAN (AE) hung outwards throughout.
