AZWAH (AE) (D Smith) lost its near fore plate on its way to the starting gates which was required to be refitted at the start. During the loading process, a number of the stalls opened with several runners which had already been loaded breaking through and being restrained shortly afterwards by their riders. GRP BAYNOONA (AE) (A Nicholls), however, broke through rider-less requiring the outriders to recapture the mare and lead her back to the starting gates. This resulted in a 13 minute delay to the start of this race. ROMANSIA (AE) (S Doyle) was slow into stride. Approaching the 1200m, CASHMERE (AE) (J Rosales) edged inwards making contact with ROMANCE DE FAUST (FR) (L Jones).

Trainer Mr M Ramadan was given permission for Apprentice S Al Taleei to replace Jockey D O’Donohoe on DRAGAN DU PANJSHIR (FR) as there were no other Jockeys available to ride at the handicap weight. ALASIL (GB) (S Gorey) was fractious in the gates. Trainer Mr S Seemar was advised that ALASIL (GB) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. CS PATRIARCH (GB) stumbled on jumping unbalancing Jockey T O’Shea. CS PATRIARCH (GB) then shifted inwards crowding MARKOOM (GB) (T Durcan) and DRAGAN DU PANJSHIR (FR) for room.

GRP MONDIAL GHANTOOT (AE) (A Nicholls) was fractious in the gates. Trainer Mr A Manuel was advised that GRP MONDIAL GHANTOOT (AE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. DAS AEL SAMER (AE) (T Durcan) was slow into stride. Near the 700m, GRP MONDIAL GHANTOOT (AE) clipped the heels of AL ASSAS DE CARRERE (AE) (R Mullen) and blundered. DAS AEL SAMER (AE), which was following had to be restrained and alter course as a consequence. On enquiry it was established that AL ASSAS DE CARRERE (AE) which had been hanging inwards in running had shifted in marginally. At the same time, GRP MONDIAL GHANTOOT (AE) had improved to the outside of AFDAL THANI (AE) (L Jones), which resulted in GRP MONNDIAL GHANTOOT (AE) clipping the heels of AL ASSAS DE CARRERE (AE).
