IL GRANDE MAURIZIO (IRE) made the turn near the 1200m awkwardly, causing Jockey C Sandoval to become unbalanced and be dislodged. The riderless IL GRANDE MAURIZIO (IRE) then shifted outwards carrying GOLD SOVEREIGN (IRE) (W Smith) wide on the track for some distance. Passing the 600m, Jockey R Hills steadied TASTEYVILLE (USA) outwards away from the riderless IL GRANDE MAURIZIO (IRE), and in doing so caused JET EXPRESS (SAF) (R Ffrench) to be steadied. Stewards enquired into the use of Apprentice A Ajtebi’s (BLUE SKY BASIN [GB]) use of the whip over the concluding stages and subsequently fined him AED 500 under Instruction 8(ii)(g) for using his whip in a manner which did not allow time for his mount to respond. Jockey C Sandoval was attended to by the on course paramedics and was later transferred to hospital for further assessment.
