BLUES BALLAD (GB) (R Mullen) jumped awkwardly. TAQDEYR (GB) (C Sanchez) was slow into stride and bumped with DOCTOR OF LAWS (GB) (D O’Donohoe). Leaving the 1400m, TAQDEYR (GB) took a tight run between IBN BATTUTA (USA) (W Smith) and BOUNTY QUEST (GB) (P Dobbs) and then commenced to over-race. In doing so TAQDEYR (GB) made contact with the hind quarters of BOUNTY QUEST (GB) which resulted in that horse becoming unbalanced. TAQDEYR (GB) then bumped with BOUNTY QUEST (GB) and IBN BATTUTA (USA) for a short distance. TAQDEYR (GB) then shifted in causing BOUNTY QUEST (GB) to be restrained and lose its position. On enquiry, Jockey C Sanchez (TAQDEYR [GB]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Meydan 11th February and Jebel Ali 12th February, 2010) for electing to take a run between BOUNTY QUEST (GB) and IBN BATTUTA (USA) when there was insufficient room to do so. Whilst it was established that TAQDEYR (GB) had not been racing generously during this incident, the Stewards believed that the gelding commenced to over race only after Jockey C Sanchez had elected to take the tight run. Jockey L Jurado (SUMMER GAMES [GB]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) for hitting his horse with the whip without giving it time to respond.

VALIANCE (USA) (D Badel) was slow to begin. Approaching the 1200m, HABALWATAN (IRE) (A Murgia) shifted in away from EL LOCO UNO (USA) (D O’Donohoe) and made contact with VALIANCE (USA). Shortly after this, HABALWATAN (IRE) rolled outwards obliging EL LOCO UNO (USA) to momentarily steady. Leaving the 300m, CELTIC KING (GB) (W Smith) was obliged to alter course around the heels of ATLANTIC BRAVE (GB) (T Durcan) when that colt rolled inwards. EL LOCO UNO (USA) was eased up shortly before the finishing line. Jockey D O’Donohoe stated that EL LOCO UNO (USA) had gone in its action and as a result he elected to ease the gelding down. A post race veterinary examination of EL LOCO UNO (USA) revealed the gelding to be lame in both fore legs. Trainer Mr R Simpson was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to EL LOCO UNO (USA) being permitted to be entered to race again.
