WANEESSAH W’RSAN (AE) (R Mullen) jumped awkwardly and lost ground. AF ASASI (AE) (D Smith) was slow into stride. QADI DU BAC (FR) (P Smullen) and EBRAAM (GB) (T O’Shea) were tightened for room shortly after the start between ZAD AL TAIF (AE) (M Henry) and RS INAAM (AE) (D Badel) which shifted inwards. WANEESSAH W’RSAN (AE) was momentarily held up on straightening. Near the 350m, NABILA (QA) (G Avranche) had to be steadied when JAIFAR (AE) (W Walter) on its outside shifted inwards. Shortly after this, JAIFAR (AE) continued to shift inwards, resulting in ZAD AL TAIF (AE) and WANEESSAH W’RSAN (AE) both having to be restrained and lose their positions. HASEEB (AE) (G Birrer) which was racing to the inside of WANEESSAH W’RSAN (AE) was hampered in this incident. On enquiry, Apprentice W Walter (JAIFAR [AE]) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Jebel Ali 8th January, 2010 and Sharjah 9th January, 2010). Jockey W Smith reported to the Stewards that when he placed BAROLO (US) under pressure on straightening, the colt had failed to respond and had been inclined to lay inwards. A post race veterinary examination of BAROLO (US) revealed no abnormalities. MESHWAR (AE) (W Buick) returned with a cut to its right hind.

AS BAHE (AE) (S Al Amoori) was withdrawn by the Stewards at 6:57pm after the colt became unruly and was unable to be ridden to the start. Trainer Mr M Hussain was advised that AS BAHE (AE) would be required to paddock school on race night to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to being entered to race again. BAKER (AE) (C Sandoval) jumped outwards at the start onto ZAIN AL REEF (AE) (D Badel). At the same time KK NEJM (AE) (S Al Taleei) jumped outwards bumping AS SATIAA (AE) (D Smith) and then shortly afterwards shifted inwards crowding ZAIN AL REEF (AE). In this incident both, ZAIN AL REEF (AE) and AS SATIAA (AE) lost ground. BH GAZAL (AE) (W Walter) and MUBHIR (AE) (G Birrer) were slow into stride. Leaving the 1500m, KK NEJM (AE) shifted in away from BERWAAZ (AE) (X Ziani) causing NAJEM AL KHALIJ (AE) (R Ffrench) to be restrained and in doing so made contact with DAHDAH (AE) (W Smith), which then shifted in and bumped with AF ABHAR (AE) (S Al Reffai). Approaching the 1400m, KK NEJM (AE) which had commenced to race keenly had to be restrained when BERWAAZ (AE) shifted in. As a result, KK NEJM (AE) shifted outwards causing NASEEM AL REEF (AE) (G Avranche) to be restrained. Approaching the 1300m, AF ABHAR (AE) was tightened for room when BERWAAZ (AE) shifted in slightly. Jockey X Ziani (BERWAAZ [AE]) was reprimanded and advised that he must ensure that he is clear of other runners when shifting ground in future. DAHDAH (AE) and ZAIN AL REEF (AE) made contact on several occasions over the concluding stages.
