MONARKOS CS (US) (R Mullen) was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 5:52pm after the gelding was found to be lame in the right fore. Trainer Mr A Al Shamsi was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the gelding being permitted to be entered to race again. DAS EL SAMER (AE) (M O’Callaghan) and NO RISK AL MAURY (FR) (R Hills) were slow into stride. Rounding the bend at the 1300m, KANDAR DU FALGAS (FR) (T O’Shea) shifted in, carrying VITE ROYALE (US) (W Smith) inwards, which caused AMOKING (US) (R Ffrench) to be crowded for room momentarily and OMAYYDE THABET (FR) (A Murgia) to be eased. Jockey A Ajtebi (UAE NON STOP [FR]) reported that his saddle slipped on jumping placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. Jockey D O’Donohoe (DORAT NOUR [FR]) was reprimanded under ERA Rule 64(iv) for failing to weigh in on the 6th placed runner.

ABSOLUTE MUSIC (USA) (R Mullen), MUNTHERAH (KSA) (A Jaen) and DAWNBREAK (USA) (L Dettori) were all hard to load. Trainer Mr R Cowell was advised that ABSOLUTE MUSIC (USA) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. Trainer Mr B Al Subaie was advised that MUNTHERAH (KSA) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. Trainer Mr S bin Suroor was advised that DAWNBREAK (USA) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. TALENTA (BRZ) (W Blandi) commenced awkwardly. JODI (ARG) (K Shea) was crowded for room on jumping between ANY DAY (IRE) (A Ajtebi) and MUNTHERAH (KSA) which was taken out by ABSOLUTE MUSIC (USA). JODI (ARG) had a tendency to over-race in the early stages. Rounding the home bend, MUNTHERAH (KSA) was restrained off the heels of the tiring ANY DAY (IRE). Shortly afterwards, MUNTHERAH (KSA) shifted inwards and bumped the hind quarters of TALENTA (BRZ) which caused that horse to angle outwards resulting in MUNTHERAH (KSA) being restrained of its heels. TALENTA (BRZ) returned with a cut to its left fore.

EMERALD WILDERNESS (IRE) (R Mullen) was hard to load. Trainer Mr R Cowell was advised that EMERALD WILDERNESS (IRE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. After being loaded into the starting gates, KING OF ROME (IRE) (K Shea) became fractious. GOOD AGAIN (GB) (T Durcan) and BEAUCHAMP XERXES (GB) (P Smullen) were slow into stride. IMVULA (AUS) (L Dettori) raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 1200m, TAKHIR (IRE) (A Starke) shifted inwards causing CLASP (GB) (T O’Shea) to be restrained. On enquiry, Jockey A Starke (TAKHIR [AE]) was reprimanded under ERA Rule 69(i) and advised that he must ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Jockey L Dettori (IMVULA [AUS]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) for hitting his horse with the whip without giving it time to respond. CLASP (GB) (T O’Shea) returned with a cut to its right fore.

COLONY (IRE) (A Murgia), DRUNKEN SAILOR (IRE) (K Fallon) and MULAQAT (GB) (W Buick) were slow into stride. Approaching the 300m, MONTE ALTO (IRE) (R Hills) rolled in slightly and had to be momentarily eased away from DRUNKEN SAILOR (IRE) which had commenced to hang outwards. DRUNKEN SAILOR (IRE) then continued to hang outwards over the final 300m which resulted in MONTE ALTO (IRE) being carried wider on the track. Notwithstanding that it was established that DRUNKEN SAILOR (IRE) was hanging, Jockey K Fallon was reprimanded for breaching ERA Rule 8(ii)(c)(i) in that he hit his horse with the whip in the forehand position forward off the saddle. ROHAANI (USA) (T O’Shea) returned with cuts to both hind legs. Jockey R Thomas reported that after travelling well in the early stages of the event, NOISY SILENCE (IRE) was a beaten horse prior to the home bend. A post race veterinary examination of NOISY SILENCE (IRE) revealed no abnormalities.

MUSAALEM (USA) (R Hills) was slow into stride. DESUETUDE (AUS) jumped inwards at the start and then stumbled, dislodging Jockey A Ajtebi. SIR GERRY (USA) (T Durcan) and PRINCE SHAUN (IRE) (T O’Shea) jumped awkwardly. AICHI (AUS) (L Dettori) and PROHIBIT (GB) were held up for clear running rounding the home bend and then approaching the 250m, AICHI (AUS) and PROHIBIT (GB) raced in restricted room and bumped on several occasions. Approaching the 200m, SIR GERRY (USA) shifted in taking PRINCE SHAUN (IRE) in onto RILEYSKEEPINGFAITH (GB) (A Munro), causing that horse to be restrained and lose its position. As a result, PROHIBIT (GB) which was racing to the inside of RILEYSKEEPINGFAITH (GB) shifted in onto AICHI (AUS), which in turn shifted in onto the hind quarters of AXIOM (GB) (K Fallon), with these three runners all hampered in this incident. On enquiry, whilst the Stewards determined that Jockey T Durcan had allowed SIR GERRY (USA) to shift inwards, after considering the video footage available to them, and particularly the evidence of Jockey T O’Shea (PRINCE SHAUN [IRE]), who stated that his horse was inclined to run in away from SIR GERRY (USA), they could not be satisfied that Jockey T Durcan was fully culpable for the interference. Notwithstanding, the Stewards reprimanded Jockey T Durcan (SIR GERRY [USA]) under ERA Rule 69(i) and advised him that he must ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. MUSAALEM (USA) was held up for clear running until the 200m.

MERCHANT MARINE (USA) (R Hills) and KHOR DUBAI (IRE) (C Sanchez) bumped on jumping. KHOR DUBAI (IRE) raced wide in the middle stages. Leaving the 300m, EDDIE JOCK (IRE) (R Mullen), when attempting a tight run to the inside of MERCHANT MARINE (USA), bumped the hind quarters of that horse, which resulted in MERCHANT MARINE (USA) being turned inwards and EDDIE JOCK (IRE) being restrained. MERCHANT MARINE (USA) then had a tendency to lay in for a short distance hampering EDDIE JOCK (IRE). SOPRANIST (GB) (T Durcan) returned having lost its left fore plate in running.
