UPTON GREY (IRE) (K Latham) dwelt on jumping and lost ground. ABSENT PLEASURE (USA) (P Dobbs) was crowded for room on jumping between ASSET (IRE) (L Dettori) and PRINCE TAMINO (GB) (R Ffrench). Leaving the 200m, ASSET (IRE) was disappointed for a run between FORCE FREEZE (USA) and STAR CROWNED (USA) (L Jurado), and then shifted to the outside of FORCE FREEZE (USA) to obtain clear running. FORCE FREEZE (USA) returned with a cut to its left hind.

IMBONGI (SAF) (C Soumillon) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. AQMAAR (GB) (D Badel) was slow into stride and was then momentarily crowded for room between ANS BACH (GB) (W Buick) and STUBBS ART (IRE) (T Durcan). Shortly after the start, DERBAAS (USA) (T O’Shea) and TASDEER (USA) (W Smith) were severely crowded for room between WEST SIDE BERNIE (USA) (L Dettori), which jumped inwards, and WONDER LAWN (SAF) (D O’Donohoe), which after jumping outwards then ran out away from BARBECUE EDDIE (USA) (W Supple). Jockey T O’Shea reported that after this incident, DERBAAS (USA) did not feel right in its action and he elected not to put the horse under any pressure in the event. MUNADDAM (USA) (R Hills), TASDEER (USA) and ANS BACH (GB) raced keenly in the early stages. STUBBS ART (IRE) raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

FOURPENNY LANE (GB) (P Smullen) was hard to load. Trainer Ms J Morgan was advised that FOURPENNY LANE (GB) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. PURPLE SAGE (IRE) (K Fallon) jumped away awkwardly. FOURPENNY LANE (GB) and ZIRCONEUM (SAF) (K Shea) were crowded for room shortly after the start between INDIANA GAL (IRE) (T Durcan) and SYNERGY (FR) (O Peslier), which shifted in. Shortly after this, INDIANA GAL (IRE) was momentarily eased away from the heels of YANA (IND) (R Moore). ASPECTOFLOVE (IRE) (L Dettori) raced keenly in the early stages. Rounding the home bend, ZIRCONEUM (SAF) and FOURPENNY LANE (GB) bumped when ZIRCONEUM (SAF) shifted to the outside of the heels of YANA (IND). Approaching the 300m, when ASPECTOFLOVE (IRE) shifted to the outside of VATTENE (IRE) (U Rispoli), VATTENE (IRE) drifted outwards, causing ASPECTOFLOVE (IRE) to shift outwards abruptly away from VATTENE (IRE) and in doing so, ASPECTOFLOVE (IRE) bumped with YANA (IND), and then carried YANA (IND), ZIRCONEUM (SAF) and FOURPENNY LANE (GB) all wider on the track. On enquiry, it was established that when Jockey L Dettori had committed ASPECTOFLOVE (IRE) to the outside of VATTENE (IRE), VATTENE (IRE) commenced to drift outwards which had contributed to ASPECTOFLOVE (IRE) shifting out onto YANA (IND), as such the Stewards could not apportion blame to any one rider. Jockey L Dettori (ASPECTOFLOVE [IRE]) was fined AED 1000 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) for hitting his horse with the whip without giving it time to respond. Jockey C Soumillon (SONEVA [USA]) was fined AED 1000 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) for hitting his horse with the whip without giving it time to respond. When questioned regarding the performance of AHLA WASAHL (GB), Jockey W Buick could offer no excuses for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination of SYNERGY (FR) revealed the mare to be lame in the left fore. Trainer Mr Y Durepaire was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the mare being permitted to be entered to race again.

EMIRATES GOLD (IRE) (P Smullen) was crowded for room on jumping between YASOODD (GB) (W Buick) and SECRECY (GB) (L Dettori). POET (GB) (D O’Donohoe), CALMING INFLUENCE (IRE) (A Ajtebi) and CAT JUNIOR (USA) (J Spencer) were crowded for room shortly after the start between HUNTING TOWER (SAF) (C Soumillon) and OLYMPIC ELECTION (BRZ) (W Blandi) which jumped outwards. OLYMPIC ELECTION (BRZ) then had a tendency to race keenly and lay outwards in the early stages. Approaching the 900m, OLYMPIC ELECTION (BRZ) hung outwards taking HUNTING TOWER (SAF) out onto YASOODD (GB). YASOODD (GB) and HUNTING TOWER (SAF) then raced in restricted room back to the inside of SNAAFY (USA) (R Hills) for a short distance, bumping on several occasions, which ultimately caused HUNTING TOWER (SAF) to shift inwards onto OLYMPIC ELECTION (BRZ) with that horse being restrained. CAT JUNIOR (USA), which was following OLYMPIC ELECTION (BRZ), was hampered in this incident. Rounding the home turn, ECHOES ROCK (GER) (T O’Shea) hung outwards taking DUNELIGHT (IRE) (K Fallon) out onto MASTER OF ARTS (USA) (R Ffrench), which had to be restrained momentarily away from the heels of SNAAFY (USA). Shortly after this, SNAAFY (USA) drifted inwards carrying DUNELIGHT (IRE) back in onto the tiring ECHOES ROCK (GER), which was restrained causing HUNTING TOWER (SAF), which was following, to be restrained and alter course to the outside of ECHOES ROCK (GER).

KAL BARG (GB) (W Buick) jumped awkwardly. MISTER FASLIYEV (IRE) (T O’Shea) was slow into stride. GREAT HAWK (USA) (T Durcan) stumbled on jumping and then drifted outwards taking ROCKETTE (FR) (K Fallon) out onto ESPIRITU (FR) (L Dettori). Rounding the turn leaving the 1700m, KEEP DISCOVERING (IRE) (P Smullen), which had commenced to race keenly, was restrained away from the heels of ATILA SHER DANON (GER) (A Munro), which was also momentarily eased when racing behind and to the inside of ART OF WAR (SAF) (K Shea). Rounding the home turn, ART OF WAR shifted around the heels of BEAUCHAMP VICEROY (GB) (R Moore) taking ROCKS OFF (C Soumillon) out onto ROCKETTE (FR) which was momentarily eased away from the heels of MISTER FASLIYEV (IRE). Leaving the 300m, the tiring KAOLAK (USA) (D O’Donohoe) had to be momentarily restrained away from the heels of KEEP DISCOVERING (IRE), which was taken inwards by SWINGING SIXTIES (IRE) (W Smith) when that horse drifted in.
