PRINCE SHAUN (IRE) (T O’Shea) reared on jumping and lost ground. EMBALO (BRZ) (T Durcan) jumped awkwardly. IGUAZU FALLS (USA) (W Supple) was slow into stride. Approaching the 1000m, AICHI (AUS) (A Ajtebi) and AL QASI (IRE) (R Ffrench) raced in restricted room to the inside of PRIME DEFENDER (GB) (R Hills) for a short distance. Leaving the 250m, LEAHURST (IRE) (R Moore) commenced to run outwards, and at this point THOR’S ECHO (USA) ran outwards away from LEAHURST (IRE), crowding BOUNTY QUEST (GB) (W Smith) onto STAR CROWNED (USA) (L Jurado). LEAHURST (IRE) then continued to run outwards for the remainder of the race. Apprentice A Ajtebi reported that AICHI (AUS) did not feel comfortable in its action in the home straight, giving him the impression that the gelding may be injured, and as such he elected not to fully test the gelding. A post race veterinary examination of AICHI (AUS) revealed no abnormalities.

DOHASA (IRE) (T Durcan) was fractious in the gates. Trainer Mr I Mohammed was advised that DOHASA (IRE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. SIROCCO BREEZE (GB) (L Dettori) was slow into stride. ATOMIC RAIN (USA) (M Barzalona) jumped outwards at the start bumping with LE DRAKKAR (AUS) (C Sanchez). MUTHEEB (USA) (R Hills) and ATOMIC RAIN (USA) raced keenly in the early stages. MARCHING (AUS) (A Ajtebi) and WARSAW (IRE) (D O’Donohoe) raced wide in the early and middle stages. Leaving the 250m, WARSAW (IRE) shifted in away from SIROCCO BREEZE (GB) and brushed with MARCHING (AUS). At the 200m, MUTHEEB (USA) shifted in slightly, causing BARBECUE EDDIE (USA) (W Supple) to be restrained. On enquiry, Jockey R Hills (MUTHEEB [USA]) was reprimanded under ERA Rule 69(i) and advised that he must ensure that he is clear of other runners when shifting ground. Jockey T Durcan advised that the starting gate manners of DOHASA (IRE) had contributed to its poor performance.

ALLYBAR (IRE) (A Ajtebi) and CALVADOS BLUES (FR) (T Durcan) were slow into stride. CROWDED HOUSE (GB) (J Spencer) and POET (GB) (P Smullen) were crowded for room on jumping between SNAAFY (USA) (R Hills) and JALIL (USA) (L Dettori). MR BROCK (SAF) (K Shea) raced wide in the early and middle stages. MR CRAZY BOY (ARG) (C Soumillon) was held up for clear running rounding the home bend, and then at the 300m was obliged to be restrained and alter course to avoid the heels of the tiring BON GRAIN (FR) (W Supple). Leaving the 300m, PERFECT STRIDE (GB) (R Moore) was momentarily eased when SNAAFY (USA) shifted in. Jockey L Dettori reported that JALIL (USA) did not feel comfortable in its action, giving him the impression that the horse may be injured, and as a result he elected not to fully test JALIL (USA) in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination of JALIL (USA) revealed the horse to be lame in the left fore. Trainer Mr S bin Suroor was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse being permitted to be entered to race again.

SOVEREIGN REMEDY (USA) (L Dettori) was a late scratching at 10:45pm after it broke through the gates and galloped a circuit of the track riderless. Trainer Mr S bin Suroor was advised that SOVEREIGN REMEDY (USA) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. YASOODD (GB) (W Buick), which also broke through the front of the gates, was caught by the attendants and was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Officer and passed fit to start. Trainer Mr D Selvaratnam was advised that YASOODD (GB) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. CODIGO DE HONOR (ARG) (P Smullen) and BLUES BALLAD (GB) (R Mullen) were hard to load. Trainer Mr B Al Subaie was advised that CODIGO DE HONOR (ARG) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again.
