CEREMONIAL JADE (UAE) (C Soumillon) was fractious in the gates. Trainer Mr M Botti was advised that CEREMONIAL JADE (UAE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. ARTIMINO (GB) (A Murgia) and SILVERSIDE (USA) (J Grosjean) were slow into stride. CEREMONIAL JADE (UAE) jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after the start, CEREMONIAL JADE (UAE), GREEN COAST (IRE) (T O’Shea) and SILVERSIDE (USA) were crowded inside AXIOM (GB) (K Fallon). Approaching the 1300m, AXIOM (GB) and CEREMONIAL JADE (UAE) bumped for a short distance. Leaving the 1300m, ACROSS THE RHINE (USA) (P Smullen), which was racing keenly, shifted inwards away from GALLAGHER (GB) (J Spencer), carrying AXIOM (GB) in onto CEREMONIAL JADE (UAE), which in turn shifted in and bumped MCCARTNEY (GER) (R Mullen). In this incident both AXIOM (GB) and MCCARTNEY (GER) were restrained. On enquiry, after considering the evidence of the riders and viewing the patrol films available, the Stewards could not be satisfied that any one rider was fully culpable for this interference, and as such no action was taken. Rounding the home bend, DESUETUDE (AUS) (A Ajtebi) shifted out under pressure bumping with OCEAN’S MINSTREL (GB) (A Munro), causing that horse to be restrained and become unbalanced. As a result, OCEAN’S MINSTREL (GB) then shifted out and bumped SILVERSIDE (USA), which in turn shifted out and bumped with ACROSS THE RHINE (USA) (P Smullen), resulting in ACROSS THE RHINE (USA) having to be eased away from the heels of GREEN COAST (IRE). Leaving the 300m, GALLAGHER (GB) ran in away from GREEN COAST (IRE) momentarily brushing with the tiring DESUETUDE (AUS).
