FERDAOUS (AE) (W Smith) was slow to begin and then veered outwards sharply. JAP MIZOON (AE) (D Smith) was slow to begin. BH BATUL (AE) (S Al Reffai) and TAHANI (AE) (H Bentley) bumped shortly after the start and were then both crowded to the inside of AF RESALAH (AE) (W Walter), when AF RESALAH (AE) commenced to race very keenly and shifted ground inwards. AL SMOOT (AE) (W Supple) raced keenly in the early stages. Leaving the 800m, the tiring MALIKAH (AE) (A Nicholls), shifted inwards away from ATHENA (AE) (A Murgia), which resulted in AF RESALAH (AE) being carried inwards onto AF ALRIAAH (AE) (T O’Shea) causing it to be restrained inwards onto AF AL LIJAM (AE) (G Avranche), which had to be restrained. On enquiry, the Stewards were of the opinion that whilst ATHENA (AE) may have shifted inwards slightly as it improved forward around the field, the tiring MALIKAH (AE) had shifted inwards away from ATHENA (AE) and, in their view, this was the main contributing factor to this incident. A post-race veterinary examination of MALIKAH (AE) revealed no abnormalities.

FOUTOUH (AE) (G Avranche) was a late scratching at 6:32pm after the colt was unable to be loaded into the starting gates. Trainer Mr J Salman was advised that FOUTOUH (AE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. AQMAAR (GB) (T O’Shea) was slow to begin. TENOR DES VIALETTES (FR) (R Hills) jumped outwards and crowded THALEM DE CHAILLAC (FR) (W Smith). MASHARREF (GB) (R Ffrench) and KING SAKBE (FR) (W Supple) bumped on jumping and then bumped again shortly after the start, which caused DORPENTHES (FR) (R Cleary) to veer outwards away from KING SAKBE (FR). KING SAKBE (FR) and MASHARREF (GB) then raced keenly in restricted room to the inside of TENOR DES VIALETTES (FR) for a short distance, as it moved forward and inwards. Making the first bend, MASHARREF (GB) raced tight to the inside of FERASS (AE) (P Cosgrave) with the two horses bumping. Jockey R Ffrench reported that MASHARREF (GB) hung outwards throughout. Shortly after straightening, TENOR DES VIALETTES (FR) ran inwards, obliging BURKAN AL ASAYL (AE) (O Peslier) to alter course. ZAMHAREER AL REEF (AE) (J Rosales) also ran inwards shortly after straightening, which resulted in KING SAKBE (FR) having to be eased. Jockey J Rosales (ZAMHAREER AL REEF [AE]) was fined AED 1000 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(b) in that he used his whip in an improper manner.
