MUBHER (GB) (T O’Shea) was a late scratching at 5:00pm on veterinary advice after the gelding became fractious and reared over backwards in the starting gates. Trainer Ms G Duffield was advised that MUBHER (GB) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. SHOOF ELAJAB (FR) (C Taylor) and NAWARA (FR) (W Walter) bumped on jumping. PLATINE DE SINUHE (FR) (J Rosales) jumped inwards at the start and bumped BALERINA (AE) (S Trabelsi) in onto NAWARA (FR). Approaching the 1400m, SHOOF ELAJAB (FR) ran inwards away from RS KHAAN (AE) (P Cosgrave), when that horse ran inwards to take up a forward position. ALAMA (AE) (G Avranche) raced keenly in the early stages. RS KHAAN (AE) had a tendency to shift ground outwards over the final 200m. Jockey P Dobbs was fined AED 500 for breaching ERA Rule 57(iii) in that he was unable to make the allotted weight of 55kg to fulfill his engagement on PLATINE DE SINUHE (FR).

MAHALLI (AE) (S Al Reffai) was a late scratching at 4:30pm as the required identification documents were not presented at the course. Trainer Mr J Salman was fined AED 500 under ERA Instruction 23. On return to scale, a protest was lodged by Jockey G Avranche, the rider of the 5th placed MOOSER (AE), against the 3rd placed DUBAI (AE) ridden by Jockey W Supple, alleging interference over the concluding 150m. Whilst it was established that DUBAI (AE) had shifted ground outwards on 2 occasions over the final 150m, the Stewards were of the view that the first shift did not interfere with MOOSER (AE), and whilst the second shift did impede MOOSER (AE) to a degree in that it was carried outwards and lost some momentum, the Stewards could not be satisfied that MOOSER (AE) would have beaten DUBAI (AE) had the interference not occurred. As such, the objection was dismissed and the placings confirmed as: 1st – AF QA’ED (AE) 2nd – MASHARREF (GB) 3rd – DUBAI (AE) MOOSER (AE) and AF QA’ED (AE) (W Smith) bumped shortly after jumping. MILLION (AE) (P Cosgrave) and ASHWAAQ (FR) (T O’Shea) were slow to begin. NAJEM AL KHALIJ (AE) (J Rosales) and SWYFT (FR) (C Taylor) bumped on jumping. AF QA’ED (AE) got its head up and over-raced for a short distance approaching the 1200m. Inside the final 150m, MOOSER (AE) ran outwards away from DUBAI (AE), which shifted outwards slightly, and in doing so MOOSER (AE) crowded MILLION (AE) out onto NAJEM AL KHALIJ (AE). Inside the final 75m, DUBAI (AE) ran outwards away from AS MUHEEB (AE) (R Cleary), which caused MOOSER (AE) to be eased and veer outwards and bump NAJEM AL KHALIJ (AE).

Approaching the 150m, ROYAL BENGALI (USA) (A Murgia) and ALRASM (IRE) were crowded for room between ROYAATY (IRE) (P Cosgrave), which shifted inwards away from MONTE ALTO (IRE) (R Hills), and MOJAVE MOON (GB) (X Ziani), which shifted outwards. In this incident, ALRASM (IRE) was eased and ROYAL BENGALI (USA) was restrained and lost its position. Jockey X Ziani (MOJAVE MOON [GB]) was advised that he must make a greater effort to straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.
