ENERGIA CENTRAL (BRZ) (B Reis) was examined at the start by the veterinarian for a cut to its mouth and was subsequently passed fit to start. FREEDOM CALL (GB) (T O’Shea) and SCOTTISH STORM (USA) (W Supple) were fractious in the gates. Trainer Mr M Gharib was advised that FREEDOM CALL (GB) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. Trainer Mr E Charpy was advised that SCOTTISH STORM (USA) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. ENERGIA CENTRAL (BRZ) (B Reis) was hard to load. Trainer Mr E Martins was advised that ENERGIA CENTRAL (BRZ) would be required to complete 2 satisfactory stalls tests prior to being entered to race again. CITY SONG (KSA) (W Buick) and SAUDI SUMMER (KSA) (R Mullen) were fractious in the gates. Trainer Mr S Seemar was advised that he must attempt to rectify their starting gate manners prior to racing again. FREEDOM CALL (GB), MAATH GOOL (GB) and ZAFEEN SPEED (GB) (W Smith) were slow into stride. HIGH COMEDY (GB) (P Cosgrave) jumped awkwardly and bumped GREETA’S CAPE (USA) (H Bentley). A short distance after the start, POLYPHEMUS (USA) (R Cleary) raced in restricted room between TAKLAMAKAN (IRE) (C Sanchez) and STREET ACT (USA) (R Ffrench), which drifted out away from CITY SONG (KSA). TAKLAMAKAN (IRE) and STREET ACT (USA) bumped at the 200m. A short distance later, ENERGIA CENTRAL (BRZ) shifted outwards abruptly carrying STREET ACT (USA) out onto TAKLAMAKAN (IRE). As a result, MAATH GOOL (GB) was taken wider on the track also. Jockey B Reis (ENERGIA CENTRAL [BRZ]) was reprimanded for shifting out abruptly when insufficiently clear. SAUDI SUMMER (KSA) had a tendency to drift outwards over the concluding stages. Jockey R Mullen (SAUDI SUMMER [KSA]) was advised that he must stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground. FREEDOM CALL (GB) and GREETA’S CAPE (USA) raced wide throughout. Jockey B Reis (ENERGIA CENTRAL [BRZ]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) for hitting his horse with the whip without giving it time to respond. Jockey P Dobbs (MYOWNWAY [GB]) was fined AED 1000 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(viii) in that he used his whip with his whip arm extended above shoulder height. When questioned regarding his riding of ZAFEEN SPEED (GB) in the home straight, Jockey W Smith stated that the intention was for the horse to be ridden in a forward position in the early parts of the race. However, after being slow out of the gates and slow into stride, he was positioned further back than anticipated, and then after being slightly impeded rounding the home bend, he elected not to utilize his whip in the straight as he believed that the horse was responding to his urgings and was already not going to feature in the placings of the race. Jockey W Smith further stated that it was his intention, if possible, to ride the horse in a more forward position at its next start.
