GO COUNTRY (FR) (R Ffrench) was hard to load. Trainer Mr A Al Raihe was advised that he must attempt to rectify the colt’s starting gate manners prior to racing again. MARINE SPIRIT (GER) (P Cosgrave) was fractious in the gates. Trainer Mr M bin Shafya was advised that he must attempt to rectify the colt’s starting gate manners prior to racing again. COMRADESHIP (IRE) (E Yavuz) was slow to begin. DHERGHAAM (IRE) (R Hills) and SERHAAL (IRE) (A Ajtebi) bumped on jumping. GO COUNTRY (FR) jumped away awkwardly and then had to be restrained shortly after jumping, between DHERGHAAM and MUSAAFER (IRE) (T O’Shea), which shifted outwards after being bumped outwards by CHAPERNO (USA) (X Ziani), which was bumped outwards by MARINE SPIRIT (GER), when MARINE SPIRIT (GER) drifted outwards after jumping. CHAPERNO (USA) was eased and lost ground in this incident. GO COUNTRY (FR) then raced keenly in the early stages. MUSAAFER (IRE) raced keenly in the early stages and approaching the 800m had to be restrained off heels. PARVAAZ (IRE) (W Buick) raced keenly in the middle stages. Leaving the 300m, CHAPERNO (USA) was momentarily held up to the inside of MARINE SPIRIT (GER), when MARINE SPIRIT (GER) drifted inwards. ENERGIA COLONIAL (BRZ) (B Reis) was impeded for clear running over the concluding stages. MAATH GOOL (GB) (W Smith) and SAUDI SUMMER (KSA) (R Mullen) raced wide throughout. Jockey X Ziani (CHAPERNO [USA]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) for hitting his horse with the whip without giving it time to respond. When questioned regarding the improved performance of COMRADESHIP (IRE), Trainer Mr R Bouresly advised that in his view the horse had improved from recent racing and also a slight change to the horse’s recent training regime.
