FREEDOM CALL (GB) (D O’Donohoe) was hard to load. Trainer Mr M Gharib was advised that FREEDOM CALL (GB) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. FREEDOM CALL (GB) and POLAR VISION (USA) (D Smith) were slow into stride. HOODIE (IRE) (T Durcan) and PENTHOUSE READER (USA) (W Smith) jumped awkwardly. LORD TIGER (GB) (R Mullen) raced keenly in the early stages. Leaving the 1300m, JERASH (GB) (A Murgia) shifted inwards, which resulted in SARBOLA (GB) (W Buick) shifting inwards away from JERASH (GB) onto ENERGIA CENTRAL (BRZ) (B Reis), with that horse having to be eased, and as a result PENTHOUSE READER (USA), which was following, had to be restrained and lose its position. On enquiry, Apprentice A Murgia (JERASH [GB]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Abu Dhabi 9th January and Meydan 13th January, 2011). Shortly after straightening, SARBOLA (GB) clipped the heels of STREET ACT (USA) (R Ffrench), blundered and dislodged its rider, W Buick. FREEDOM CALL (GB), MUREB (USA) (P Cosgrave) and POLAR VISION (USA), which were following, were all inconvenienced and obliged to alter course as a consequence. An enquiry into this incident will be held at a later date. LORD TIGER (GB) and WEST EMIRATES (USA) (K Fallon) had a tendency to lay outwards in the straight. SARBOLA (GB) and ENERGIA CENTRAL (BRZ) both returned with lacerations to their right hind.
