EMIRATES LINE (USA) (S Al Reffai) and BLITZED (GB) (T Durcan) were both hard to load. Trainers Mr M Gharib and Mr H Brown were advised that both geldings would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. CHAPERNO (USA) (X Ziani), BLITZED (GB) and FANTASTIC DUBAI (USA) (D Smith) jumped awkwardly. ENERGIA BERLIM (BRZ) (B Reis) jumped inwards at the start crowding GO ON BE A TIGER (USA) (K Fallon) and ZAFEEN SPEED (GB) (W Smith). KINGSHIP SPIRIT (IRE) (W Supple) had to ease shortly after the start when IGUAZU FALLS (USA) (P Cosgrave) drifted outwards. Leaving the 1500m, KINGSHIP SPIRIT (IRE) had to ease when FANTASTIC DUBAI (USA) shifted inwards. Approaching the 1200m, ENERGIA BERLIM (BRZ) shifted outwards carrying QAMAR (GB) (A Ajtebi) wider on the track. Leaving the 700m, ENERGIA BERLIM (BRZ) was crowded for room and had to be eased between the tiring EMIRATES LINE (USA), which shifted out slightly away from BLITZED (GB), and GO ON BE A TIGER (USA), which was crowded inwards by ZAFEEN SPEED (GB), which shifted in slightly. When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of BLITZED (GB), Jockey T Durcan stated that when he placed the gelding under pressure at the 600m, he had failed to respond to his urgings. He further added that the horse seemed sound in his action on returning to scale. A post-race veterinary examination of BLITZED (GB) revealed no abnormalities. Upon return to the stable, Trainer Mr H Brown reported that BLITZED (GB) had shown signs of bruising in its left fore heel.

Jockey P Dobbs (DYNAMIC SAINT [USA]) advised that when endeavoring to gain cover leaving the 2600m, his mount over-reacted to being eased. When questioned regarding his ride on KERASHAN (IRE), Apprentice A Murgia advised that his instructions were to set the pace and open up a considerable lead, similar to the manner in which he rode the horse during its last preparation at Abu Dhabi when it won over 2200m. He further added that after opening up his lead, he had eased back on his mount and felt that the horse was travelling comfortably throughout the race, however when he then placed the gelding under pressure he had failed to respond and weakened. Whilst noting that Apprentice A Murgia was riding to instruction, the Stewards advised him to ensure that he rides his mounts in a manner to ensure that they obtain the best possible finishing position in their races. A post-race veterinary examination of CAPTAIN WEBB (GB) revealed the horse to be lame in the right fore and left hind. Trainer Mr E Charpy was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse being permitted to be entered to race again

STUBBS ART (IRE) (A Murgia) and LE PRINCE CHARMANT (FR) (E Yavuz) were slow to begin. MASAALEK (GB) (T O’Shea) jumped awkwardly. PALM COURT (GB) (D O’Donohoe) was crowded for room on jumping between OKEAN MOR (BRZ) (B Reis) and ROCHEFORT (IRE) (R Mullen). Jockey P Cosgrave (TAOS [BRZ]) advised that he felt his mount’s action go leaving the 1300m and in his view he felt that there was something amiss with TAOS (BRZ), and as such he elected to ease the horse out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination of TAOS (BRZ) revealed the colt to be lame in right hind. Trainer Mr M bin Shafya was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the colt being permitted to be entered to race again. Jockey D O’Donohoe reported that PALM COURT (GB) hung inwards throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. Jockey T O’Shea (MASAALEK [GB]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i) in that he used his whip in the forehand position forward of the saddle.
