RAIN DELAYED (IRE) (W Supple) jumped awkwardly. LUI REI (ITY) (H Turner) was crowded between HAPPY DUBAI (IRE) (A Ajtebi) and MASTA PLASTA (IRE) (D O’Donohoe) at the start. REBECCA ROLFE (GB) (K Fallon) jumped inwards at the start and bumped EVERYDAY HEROES (USA) (T Durcan), which resulted in EVERYDAY HEROES (USA) shifting in and crowding MOFARIJ (GB) (R Cleary). Leaving the 700m, LUI REI (ITY) raced in restricted room to the inside of RAIN DELAYED (IRE) and behind NOBLE HEIR (SAF) (R Moore) and then approaching the 600m, LUI REI (ITY) had to be eased. A short distance later, LUI REI (ITY) drifted outwards, carrying RAIN DELAYED (IRE) outwards, resulting in RAIN DELAYED (IRE) having to be eased away from STAR CROWNDED (USA) (W Smith), when STAR CROWNED (USA) drifted inwards. Leaving the 300m, TERRIFIC CHALLENGE (USA) (R Mullen) shifted inwards resulting in STAR CROWNED (USA), which was commencing to weaken, having to be eased. On enquiry, Jockey R Mullen (TERRIFIC CHALLENGE [USA]) was advised to ensure that he straightens his mounts when they shift ground in future. A post-race veterinary examination of STAR CROWNED (USA) revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance of WAR ARTIST (AUS), Jockey O Peslier advised that the gelding had travelled well in the early stages of the race; however he had failed to finish off in the desired manner. He further added that in his opinion, WAR ARTIST (AUS) would benefit from this run. A post-race veterinary examination of WAR ARTIST (AUS) revealed no abnormalities.

On return to the scales, an objection was lodged by the 3rd placed rider, C Soumillon (RIVER JETEZ [SAF]) against the 2nd placed THAI HAKU (IRE) (C Lemaire) alleging interference over the final 150m. After considering the evidence available, the Stewards established that whilst there was initially room to the inside of THAI HAKU (IRE) leading up to this point in the race, THAI HAKU (IRE) had then commenced to shift inwards slightly, it was their view that at the time when Jockey C Soumillon had positioned RIVER JETEZ (SAF) to the inside of THAI HAKU (IRE) there was then insufficient room to do so. As such, the objection was dismissed and the placings remained as: 1st – ASPECTOFLOVE (IRE) 2nd – THAI HAKU (IRE) 3rd – RIVER JETEZ (SAF) EMPER HOLLY (ARG) (P Cosgrave) and SUMMER GAMES (GB) (T O’Shea) both jumped awkwardly. Leaving the 1500m, KINKY AFRO (IRE) (K Fallon) was eased when AYUN TARA (FR) (G Benoist), which had commenced to race keenly, shifted inwards slightly. AYUN TARA (FR) continued to race keenly in the early stages. MY SWEET BABY (USA) (W Smith) and DEEM (IRE) (O Peslier) bumped leaving the 400m. Inside the 150m, RIVER JETEZ (SAF) endeavoured to obtain a run to the inside of THAI HAKU (IRE) and was obliged to alter course around THAI HAKU (IRE) and ASPECTOFLOVE (IRE), to obtain clear running. As was established in the objection enquiry, THAI HAKU (IRE) had shifted inwards slightly; however this was prior to RIVER JETEZ (SAF) being in a position to take the run. Notwithstanding, Jockey C Lemaire was advised that he must ensure that he maintains a straight course. When questioned regarding the performance of MY SWEET BABY (USA), Jockey W Smith stated that the horse did not feel comfortable in its action during the race. A post-race veterinary examination of MY SWEET BABY (USA) revealed no abnormalities. AYUN TARA (FR) returned having lost its left fore shoe. THAI HAKU (IRE) returned having lost its left hind shoe
