JAZEERAT ALSADYAAT (FR) (O Peslier) lost its left hind plate in the saddling enclosure, which required it to be reshod and resulted in the horse being absent from the parade ring. AMOKING (US) (A Ajtebi) jumped outwards at the start and bumped PERIANDER (NL) (R Cleary) outwards, which crowded ADJINN D’AROCO (FR) (T Durcan). KANDAR DU FALGAS (FR) (R Hills) jumped awkwardly and then was crowded for room when BADAD (FR) (C Lemaire) ran outwards. BADAD (FR) continued to run outwards and hampered JAZEERAT ALSADYAAT (FR). JAZEERAT ALSADYAAT (FR) and AMOKING (US) raced keenly in the early stages. After rounding the home bend, PERIANDER (NL) raced tight to the inside of KANDAR DU FALGAS (FR) and the two horses then brushed on several occasions in the home straight, and leaving the 100m KANDAR DU FALGAS (FR) attempted to bite PERIANDER (NL).

MAYFAIR LAD (GB) (W Supple) and BUSKER (USA) (P Cosgrave) were crowded at the start between MUTAL FORCE (USA) (R Ffrench) and CALLING ELVIS (BRZ) (C Lemaire). ROAYH (USA) (L Dettori) jumped outwards at the start crowding INTROVERT (IRE) (A Ajtebi). Approaching the 1100m, INTROVERT (IRE) was momentarily eased when CALLING ELVIS (BRZ) drifted inwards slightly. MAJOR VICTORY (SAF) (R Mullen) raced keenly in the early stages. Rounding the bend at the 800m, MAJOR VICTORY (SAF) raced tight between ROAYH (US) to its outside and D’ARTAGNAN (SAF) (H Bentley) to its inside, bumping with D’ARTAGNAN (SAF) for a short distance, and ultimately MAJOR VICTORY (SAF) had to be eased. D’ARTAGNAN (SAF) was impeded for clear running behind the tiring ABSTRATO (BRZ) (K Shea) in the home straight. When questioned regarding the performance of ROAYH (US), Jockey L Dettori could offer no excuses. LORD OF THE STARS (USA) (T O’Shea) returned with a cut to its left hind.

OUR GIANT (AUS) (C Soumillon) and FROSTY SECRET (USA) (K Shea) bumped on jumping. PROHIBIT (GB) (J Spencer) was crowded for room on jumping between DYNAMIC BLITZ (AUS) (O Doleuze) and FORCE FREEZE (USA) (K Fallon). Approaching the 1000m, FORCE FREEZE (USA) was carried inwards by DYNAMIC BLITZ (AUS), which had run inwards away from INXILE (IRE) (A Nicholls,) which was moving to take up a forward position, which ultimately resulted in FORCE FREEZE (USA) having to be restrained. On enquiry, based on the evidence available, the Stewards were of the view that the interference suffered by FORCE FREEZE (USA) was due to a number of factors, primarily Jockey K Fallon (FORCE FREEZE [USA]) first shifting outwards to relieve pressure to FROSTY SECRET (USA) on his inside, and then shortly after this, being carried inwards by DYNAMIC BLITZ (AUS), which itself had ran inwards away from INXILE (IRE). Given the number of contributing factors, no action was taken against any one rider. Notwithstanding, both Jockey A Nicholls (INXILE [IRE]) AND Jockey O Doleuze (DYNAMIC BLITZ [AUS]) were advised that they must ensure that they are clear when shifting ground and make sufficient effort to afford their fellow riders sufficient room. Leaving the 300m, TERRIFIC CHALLENGE (USA) (R Mullen) was disappointed for a run to the inside of FORCE FREEZE (USA) and was obliged to alter course to the outside of that horse. A short distance later, TERRIFIC CHALLENGE (USA) drifted outwards away from FORCE FREEZE (USA), crowding BANNA BOIRCHE (IRE) (S Foley) out onto SANGAREE (USA) (L Dettori), with SANGAREE (USA) having to be eased at this time, away from the heels of PROHIBIT (GB). TERRIFIC CHALLENGE (USA) (R Mullen) then continued to lay outwards away from FORCE FREEZE (USA), which drifted outwards slightly away from FROSTY SECRET (USA), causing BANNA BOIRCHE (IRE) to be crowded and race in restricted room to the inside of PROHIBIT (GB) over the concluding stages.

SOLID CHOICE (AUS) (C Soumillon) was slow to begin. Leaving the 1100m, MABAIT (GB) (K Fallon) raced tight to the inside of YAA WAYL (IRE) (M Barzalona) for a short distance and was eased. Leaving the 200m, SOLID CHOICE (AUS) was restrained and lost its position between MABAIT (GB), which shifted inwards, and HUJAYLEA (IRE) (S Foley), which shifted outwards around the heels of FERNELEY (IRE) (R Moore) to obtain clear running. On enquiry, it was established that the interference suffered by SOLID CHOICE (AUS) was a result of a shift from both MABAIT (GB) on the outside and HUJAYLEA (IRE) on the inside. Whilst not finding any one rider culpable for the interference, Stewards advised both Jockey K Fallon (MABAIT [GB]) and Apprentice S Foley (HUJAYLEA [IRE]) to ensure that they are clear when they shift ground in future. HUJAYLEA (IRE) and IGUAZU FALLS (USA) (X Ziani) bumped inside the final 50m. Apprentice S Foley (HUJAYLEA [IRE]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i) in that he used his whip in the forehand position forward of the saddle.

ABSOLUTE HERETIC (AUS) (J Spencer) was slow to begin. FENCING MASTER (GB) (K Fallon) jumped inwards at the start, crowding FLORENTINO (JPN) (A Ajtebi) onto HERE TO WIN (BRZ) (C Soumillon). EDDIE JOCK (IRE) (R Mullen) and KIDNAPPED (AUS) (L Dettori) bumped on jumping. Approaching the 1800m, FENCING MASTER (GB) was eased momentarily after SENATE (GB) (T Durcan) drifted inwards. HERE TO WIN (BRZ) raced keenly in the early stages.
