Inside the final 100m, SEEKING GLORY (GB) (R Ffrench) shifted outwards, and approaching the finishing line crowded KINGDOM BEAUTY (KSA) on to the hind quarters of AIR OF GRACE (IRE), which resulted in KINGDOM BEAUTY (KSA) having to be restrained. On enquiry, Jockey R Ffrench (SEEKING GLORY [GB]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 1 day (Meydan 17th February, 2011) and fined AED 2500. GRAND DUCHY (GB) (W Smith) returned with a laceration to its right hind.

After arriving at the starting gates, HOODIE (IRE) (A Ajtebi) was examined by the Veterinary officer and was found to be lame in the right fore and was subsequently a late scratching at 7:24pm. Trainer Mr I Mohammed was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to HOODIE (IRE) being permitted to be entered to race again. CHARMING MAN (GB) (T Durcan) was slow to begin. PIRATE’S SONG (GB) (R Ffrench) raced keenly in the early stages. Rounding the home bend, STRECKER (USA) (G Benoist) was disappointed for a run to the inside of KINGSHIP SPIRIT (IRE) (W Supple), and was obliged to alter course around the heels of KINGSHIP SPIRIT (IRE). Leaving the 200m, STRECKER (USA) shifted outwards around the heels of KILT ROCK (IRE) (P Dobbs), and in doing so crowded the tiring STREET TALK (GB) (C Sanchez) on to WESTERN ADVENTURE (USA) (R Mullen), resulting in STREET TALK (GB) having to be eased. Leaving the 150m, DAN CHILLINGWORTH (IRE) (T O’Shea) drifted outwards and made contact with FANTASTIC DUBAI (USA) (W Smith). FANTASTIC DUBAI (USA) then had a tendency to lay inwards, crowding DAN CHILLINGWORTH (IRE) over the concluding stages. WESTERN ADVENTURE (USA) returned with a cut mouth.

After being loaded into the gates, the saddle on GALACTOS (ARG) (J Rosales) shifted, which required GALACTOS (ARG) to be removed from the starting gates and to be re-saddled. FIVE CENTS (GB) (A Ajtebi) and OKEAN MOR (BRZ) (B Reis) bumped on jumping. GALACTOS (ARG) jumped away awkwardly and then raced keenly in the early stages. As the field linked up with the course proper where the false rail ended, SAILORMAN (IRE) (A Murgia) drifted outwards, which carried STALKING SHADOW (USA) (R Mullen) outwards, causing ZAFEEN SPEED (GB) (W Smith) to be eased. Approaching the 1200m, ZAFEEN SPEED (GB) shifted inwards slightly, which crowded CADRE (IRE) (P Cosgrave) in onto BOSS PROFESSOR (ARG) (R Ffrench), with CADRE (IRE) becoming unbalanced momentarily. ZAFEEN SPEED (GB) ran inwards over the concluding stages. UNIQUELY POISED (USA) (P Dobbs) returned with a cut tongue.

Making the turn approaching the 1300m, KAVANGO (IRE) (P Cosgrave) shifted inwards slightly, crowding FALCATIV (GB) (A Murgia) inwards onto BORN TO BE KING (USA). Approaching the 1200m, MARCHING TIME (GB) (R Hills) shifted outwards slightly, crowding BORN TO BE KING (USA) out onto KAVANGO (IRE). Leaving the 300m, MARCHING TIME (GB) shifted inwards and bumped the tiring WARRIORS KEY (IRE) (X Ziani) in onto BORN TO BE KING (USA). GLEN NEVIS (USA) (R Ffrench) raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance of ROMAN REPUBLIC (FR), Jockey A Ajtebi could offer no excuses. A post-race veterinary examination of ROMAN REPUBLIC (FR) revealed the gelding to have suffered a cut to its left fetlock but no other abnormalities were evident.
