ABJER (FR) (A Murgia) was slow to begin. PAULINHO (ARG) (B Fayd’Herbe) was crowded at the start between GOLD PEARL (USA) (T Durcan) and CHOCOLICIOUS (SAF) (R Moore). CRYING LIGHTENING (IRE) (J Quinn), ROSINA GREY (GB) (H Bentley), CALLING ELVIS (BRZ) (C Soumillon) and ELECTRIC WAVES (IRE) (R Mullen) were all crowded shortly after the start between LORD OF THE STARS (USA) (T O’Shea), which drifted inwards, and KRYPTON FACTOR (GB) (K Fallon), which after bumping with ABTASAAMAH (USA) (A Ajtebi), ran outwards away from that horse. In this incident, CALLING ELVIS (BRZ) was ultimately obliged to ease from its position. Leaving the 350m, the tiring GRAND DUCHY (GB) (R Ffrench) was eased to the inside of ELECTRIC WAVES (IRE), which was carried inwards by LORD OF THE STARS (USA), which drifted inwards momentarily. Apprentice H Bentley reported that ROSINA GREY GB) hung outwards throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of LORD OF THE STARS (USA) revealed the colt to be lame behind. Trainer Mr D Simcock was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse being permitted to be entered to race again.
