MUTABAYEN (USA) (J Rosales) was slow to begin. BELPASSO (IRE) (R Mullen) jumped outwards at the start and crowded METEBANI (FR) (T Durcan) out onto ALWAABEL (GB) (R Hills). FINGERPRINT (USA) (W Supple) was crowded shortly after the start between FORTUNE CITY (UAE) (R Burke) and WADI WANDERER (IRE) (D Smith), which ran inwards away from KILT ROCK (IRE) (K Fallon). LHASHAN (GB) (W Buick) raced keenly in the early stages. Leaving the 900m, FORTUNE CITY (UAE) shifted inwards, which caused KILT ROCK (IRE), which was racing keenly, to shift inwards, which crowded HEART BEAT (SAF) (R Ffrench) in onto BELPASSO (IRE), with those two horses bumping, and HEART BEAT (SAF) having to be restrained and lose its racing position. WESTERN ADVENTURE (USA) (H Bentley), which was following HEART BEAT (SAF), had to be eased as a consequence. On enquiry, Jockey R Burke (FORTUNE CITY [UAE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Jebel Ali 18th March and Abu Dhabi 20th March, 2011). Leaving the 300m, ALWAABEL (GB) was momentarily crowded for room between HEART BEAT (SAF) and WESTERN ADVENTURE (USA). HEART BEAT (SAF) and ALWAABEL (GB) brushed leaving the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination of MUTABAYEN (USA) revealed the horse to be lame in the right fore. Trainer Mr M Ramadan was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse being permitted to be entered to race again.

CONFEDERATION (USA) (T Durcan) was slow to begin. KINGSHIP SPIRIT (IRE) (W Supple) was crowded at the start between VALIANCE (USA) (S Al Reffai) and DUBAI SET (GB) (P Dobbs). DUBAI SET (GB) then bumped with DAN CHILLINGWORTH (IRE) (T O’Shea) shortly after the start. Leaving the 1300m, DUBAI SET (GB), which was racing keenly, ran inwards away from DAN CHILLINGWORTH (IRE). The offside rein on NO STRINGS (IRE) snapped at about the 1200m, giving Jockey R Mullen no control over the horse and the horse did not finish the race. Leaving the 1200m, DAN CHILLINGWORTH (IRE), which was racing keenly, drifted outwards and at the same time GO ON BE A TIGER (USA) (R Ffrench), which was also racing keenly, drifted inwards with the two horses bumping heavily and DAN CHILLINGWORTH (IRE) having to be restrained. FLOWERS IN SPRING (R Burke) raced keenly in the early stages. When questioned regarding the performance of CONFEDERATION (USA), Jockey T Durcan stated that the horse never travelled at any stage of the race and he elected to retire the horse from the race shortly before straightening. A post-race veterinary examination of CONFEDERATION (USA) revealed no abnormalities.

On return to the scales, an objection was lodged by the 2nd placed rider, T O’Shea (QAMAR [GB]) against the 1st placed INNOCUOUS (GB) (A Ajtebi) alleging interference passing the 200m. After considering the evidence of the riders and also the patrol footage available, the Stewards were satisfied that had the interference not occurred, QAMAR (GB) would have beaten INNOCUOUS (GB), and as such, the objection was upheld and the placings were altered to: 1st – QAMAR (GB) 2nd – INNOCUOUS (GB) 3rd – GOLDEN SHAHEEN (IRE) QAMAR (GB) (T O’Shea) and INNOCUOUS (GB) (A Ajtebi) jumped awkwardly. After being loaded into the starting gates, CLASP (GB) (H Bentley) got underneath the front of its starting gate and galloped riderless for a circuit of the track, which caused a delay to the start of this race. CLASP (GB) was subsequently a late scratching at 10:03pm. In going underneath its starting gate, the saddle slipped badly on CLASP (GB), which resulted in the gelding sustaining lacerations and injuries. Trainer Mr D Watson was advised that CLASP (GB) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test, and that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the gelding being permitted to be entered to race again. When CLASP (GB) broke through its starting gate, some of the other starting gates sprung open thus releasing a number of other runners who were already loaded. All horses were controlled by their riders after a short distance and were subsequently passed fit to fulfill their engagements by the Veterinary Officer. SABOTEUR (GB) (J Rosales), DR FAUSTUS (IRE) (P Dobbs) and ARQAAM (GB) (R Hills) were slow to begin. LANDO JUNIOR (FR) (G Benoist) was crowded shortly after the start between PEARLY KING (USA) (D Smith) and SECRETIVE (GB) (P Cosgrave), which was carried inwards by TINAAR (USA) (W Smith), which shifted in away from LION SANDS (GB) (C Sanchez). Approaching the 1600m, ARQAAM (GB) raced tight to the inside of LINDNER (GER) (A Murgia), which shifted inwards slightly away from LANDO JUNIOR (FR). A short distance later, LINDNER (GER) was eased when LANDO JUNIOR (FR) shifted inwards slightly. Leaving the 900m, WITH INTEREST (GB) (R Ffrench) was impeded for clear running behind ROYAL BENGALI (USA) (C Sandoval), which commenced to give ground quickly, which resulted in WITH INTEREST (GB) going from racing in a prominent position to being shuffled back to the rear of the field. Leaving the 350m, LION SANDS (GB) was momentarily impeded for clear running behind TINAAR (USA). WITH INTEREST (GB) returned having bled from both nostrils. Trainer Mr A Al Raihe was advised that WITH INTEREST (GB) would not be permitted to start until it had passed a satisfactory gallop test in the presence of an ERA Veterinary Officer, to be conducted not before 21 days from the date of bleeding.
