After being mounted on the track, EXCEEDINGLY FAST (KSA) became fractious and reared over dislodging Apprentice H Bentley. Subsequently, EXCEEDINGLY FAST (KSA) was a late scratching at 2:22pm. Trainer Mr S Seemar was advised that EXCEEDINGLY FAST (KSA) would be required to paddock school to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to being entered to race again. LHASHAN (GB) (D Smith) jumped awkwardly. Jockey T O’Shea advised that on jumping, MUSLEH (USA) did not feel right in its action and he therefore elected not to fully test the gelding during the race. A post-race veterinary examination of MUSLEH (USA) revealed the gelding to be lame in the right hind. Trainer Mr A Al Raihe was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the gelding being permitted to be entered to race again. Apprentice H Bentley was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and was passed fit to fulfill his remaining riding engagements.

On return to scale, an objection was lodged by the 2nd placed rider, Jockey R Mullen (AL RAZI [USA]), against the 1st placed KESSRAA (IRE) (J Doyle) alleging interference over the final 200m. After considering the evidence available, whilst the Stewards acknowledged that KESSRAA (IRE) had shifted ground inwards, they were not satisfied that AL RAZI (USA) would have beaten KESSRAA (IRE) had this shift not occurred. As such, the objection was dismissed and the placings remained as: 1st – KESSRAA (IRE) 2nd – AL RAZI (USA) 3rd – BUR DUBAI (USA) AL RAZI (USA) was crowded on jumping between GAME STALKER (USA) (R Ffrench), which jumped awkwardly, and BROUGHTONS DAY (GB) (J Rosales), which jumped outwards. SHAFGAAN (GB) (S Al Mazroeei) was slow to begin. KESSRAA (IRE) and PROFONDO ROSSO (IRE) (J Agostini) bumped on jumping and shortly after, KESSRAA (IRE) again bumped PROFONDO ROSSO (IRE) inwards onto CHAPERNO (USA) (P Cosgrave). Leaving the 300m, PROFONDO ROSSO (IRE) commenced to shift inwards, and shortly after, when KESSRAA (IRE) commenced to shift ground inwards, PROFONDO ROSSO (IRE) shifted inwards away from KESSRAA (IRE), which caused CHAPERNO (USA), to be restrained. On enquiry, Apprentice J Agostini (PROFONDO ROSSO [IRE]) was advised that he must ensure that he makes sufficient effort to straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future. KESSRAA (IRE) continued to shift ground inwards and on the finishing line momentarily hampered AL RAZI (USA). Jockey J Doyle (KESSRAA [IRE]) was advised that when a horse shifts ground to this extent he should desist from using the whip and ride with both hands on the reins.
