ALMAJD (FR) (R Hills) ran inwards leaving the 600m and then leaving the 300m, ran outwards. Approaching the 200m, RS MUJAHID (AE) (S Al Reffai) shifted to the inside of ALMAJD (FR) to obtain clear running. TIKI TEJAS (US) returned having lost its right fore plate.

HORRA (AE) was a late scratching at 2:25pm after it dislodged its rider, Jockey D Smith, on the way to the starting gates and was then recaptured at the 1400m chute. Trainer Mr M Al Ketbi was advised that HORRA (AE) would be required to paddock school to the satisfaction of the Stewards and complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. SNF MAHER (AE) (W Smith) was fractious in the gates and reared on jumping. OUASIMA (AE) (H Bentley) jumped outwards at the start and inconvenienced RAEAA W’RSAN (AE) (R Mullen). OUASIMA (AE) raced keenly in the early stages. ALAIN MILLINUOM (AE) (S Al Reffai) made the bend at the 1200m awkwardly, and near the 1100m shifted outwards across the heels of JAP FATTAN (AE) (M Khan) and in doing so inconvenienced JAP RASHAD (AE) (P Cosgrave). Jockey W Smith advised that after SNF MAHER (AE) had struck out in the starting gates, the horse then did not feel right in its action and he elected to ease up over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination of SNF MAHER (AE) revealed the horse to have sustained a laceration to its right hind.

AL MARMOOM (USA), which sustained lacerations to its head when it struck its head in the saddling stalls, was examined by the Club’s veterinary official and passed fit to start. GAME STALKER (USA) (R Ffrench) jumped awkwardly. Jockey R Ffrench advised that he felt that GAME STALKER (USA) may have been galloped on near the 300m as he felt the horse mis-stride. On viewing the patrol film, it was evident that GAME STALKER (USA) did mis-stride at this stage of the race, however the Stewards could not verify that it had been galloped on as it appeared that there were no runners close to GAME STALKER (USA) at this point. A post-race veterinary examination of GAME STALKER (USA) revealed no abnormalities. KESSRAA (IRE) (J Doyle) returned having lost its right hind shoe.
