After arriving at the starting gates, LUCK RAY (ARG) underwent a veterinary examination; given that Jockey J Doyle felt that the horse did not feel right in its action. Subsequently, LUCK RAY (ARG) was passed fit to start by the Veterinary Officer. MUTUAL FORCE (USA) (S De Sousa) was crowded shortly after the start between CRACKDOWN (IRE) (T Durcan) and LUCKY RAY (ARG). IZAAJ (USA) (P Cosgrave) had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight and passing the 400m, TRUST N DUSTAN (USA) (R Ffrench), which was racing to its inside, was obliged to ease and alter course. IZAAJ (USA) then continued to drift inwards carrying KING CHARLES (GB) (J Rosales) inwards over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination of LUCKY RAY (ARG) revealed no abnormalities.

TARGET POINT (GB) (A Murgia) was hard to load. Trainer Mr I Mohammed was advised that he must attempt to rectify the colt’s starting gate manners prior to racing again. EARL OF CARRICK (USA) (C Sandoval), WISE THOUGHTS (GER) (H Bentley) and METALMARK (IRE) (R Ffrench) were slow to begin. Leaving the 1400m, MEYDAN TIGER (USA) (A Atzeni) was momentarily eased when LINE OF SIGHT (USA) (T Durcan) shifted inwards. Leaving the 1200m, MANAROLA (GB) (S Foley) was eased when racing tight to the inside of MEIOTIC (USA) (W Smith). STORM BELT (USA) (T O’Shea) was unable to negotiate the bend leaving the 1200m and ran off the track taking TARGET POINT (GB) wider on the track as a consequence. A post-race veterinary examination of EARL OF CARRICK (USA) revealed the colt to have suffered an injury to its right fore and the colt was transported to Dubai Equine Hospital for further assessment. Trainer Mr A bin Huzaim was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the colt being permitted to be entered to race again.
