Near the 1400m, as BAREQ (AE) (W Smith) drifted inwards, JAP AL SAKAB (AE) (C Peddie) was eased and shifted out and bumped with SHAMSHOUM (AE). AS SATIAA (AE) made the bend at the 1200m awkwardly. Jockey R Ffrench (KAREEM W’RSAN [AE]) was fined AED 1000 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vi) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. ROCK JOCK (IRE) (T Durcan) was slow to begin. KILT ROCK (IRE) (R Moore) began awkwardly and was then crowded between RUSSIAN ROCK (IRE) (W Smith) and SUITED AND BOOTED (IRE) (S Al Mazrooei). FITYAAN (GB) (T O’Shea) raced erratically over the concluding stages and near the 150m, shifted outwards causing MUJAAZEF (GB) (R Hills) to be momentarily eased. When questioned regarding the performance of KILT ROCK (IRE), Jockey R Moore stated that after beginning awkwardly and being crowded for room, the gelding then did not handle the kick back when racing behind other runners and did not race tractably.

Shortly after the start, FOREST RUNNER (GB) (S De Sousa) was crowded and restrained between PRIMARY COLOURS (GB) (M Demuro), which ran outwards, and ROYAL TIGRE (USA) (C Sanchez), which was taken inwards by SHAFGAAN (GB) (S Al Mazrooei). Making the bend at the 1200m, MANDILION (GB) (W Smith) was restrained when racing to the inside of RACE TO DUBAI (USA) (R Ffrench), which was racing to the inside of JARIDH (USA) (H Bentley), which was racing to the inside of DARBANDIKHAN (USA) (A Atzeni). On being restrained, MANDILION (GB) then veered out abruptly. On enquiry, whilst it was conceded that JARIDH (USA) had rolled in marginally off its line on making the bend, which carried RACE TO DUBAI (USA) in across the line of MANDILION (GB), the Stewards accepted the evidence of Jockey W Smith that MANDILION (GB) had over-reacted in this incident and that after being restrained the colt then did not handle the bend. Accordingly, no action was taken against any rider. Near the 1100m, MOONLIGHT DASH (GB) (R Mullen) and RACE TO DUBAI (USA) bumped. MANAROLA (GB) (R Moore) was retired from the race near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination of MANAROLA (GB) revealed the colt to be lame in both fore legs. Trainer Mr I Mohammed was advised that a that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the colt being permitted to be entered to race again. Near the 600m, MOONLIGHT DASH (GB) and PRIMARY COLOURS (GB) raced tight between DARBANDIKHAN (USA) and SHAFGAAN (GB), and PRIMARY COLOURS (GB) was eased. Approaching the finishing line, DARBANDIKHAN (USA) drifted outwards and SHAFGAAN (GB) drifted inwards, with SHAFGAAN (GB) having to be eased.
