Stewards' Reports for Al Hosn Sponsored By ADEC
At approximately 4pm, the Stewards were advised by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club’s Clerk of the Course, Mr P Buckley, that there would be no video footage available for the race meeting. After consulting with the ERA Steering Committee, the meeting was allowed to proceed on this occasion. This matter will be addressed with the ADEC before the next scheduled race meeting is allowed to be conducted. AF TASALLAL (AE) (W Smith), OKBA (AE) (C Sandoval) and SHAHENAZ AL REEF (AE) (P Cosgrave) were slow to begin. SHAHENAZ AL REEF (AE) raced keenly in the early stages. AF TASALLAL (AE) raced wide in the early and middle stages and at a point near the 700m when racing to the outside of LWIZA (AE) (R Ffrench), which was hanging outwards, the colt gave ground abruptly. Making the turn into the home straight near the 400m, OKBA (AE) shifted outwards onto AF AL HEMAH (AE) (T O’Shea), which had to be restrained. OKBA (AE) continued to shift outwards causing BH ALMOZIEG (AE) (G Avranche) to be steadied. On enquiry, Jockey C Sandoval (OKBA [AE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Meydan, 25th November and Sharjah, 26th November, 2011). Jockey R Ffrench reported that LWIZA (AE) hung outwards throughout.

KARID’OR (FR) (J Rosales), PURE PLATINUM (GB) (A Murgia) and DRAAZ (AE) (W Smith) were slow to begin. Jockey G Faucon reported that SANEH AL NAIF (QA) hung outwards badly in the early stages and that the bit had pulled through the colt’s mouth. As a consequence, he was unable to control SANEH AL NAIF (QA). Trainer Mr H Al Hammadi was advised that SANEH AL NAIF (QA) wIll be required to complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the Stewards before being permitted to be entered to race again. Near the 1000m, FORGEHILL SAPINA (FR), after being reluctant to race truly, brushed the running rail and stumbled, dislodging Apprentice S Al Mazrooei. DRAAZ (AE), which was following, was inconvenienced in this incident. Trainer Mr M Al Shamsi was advised that FORGEHILL SAPINA (FR) will be required to complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the Stewards before being permitted to be entered to race again. Near the 350m, the tiring AF AL NITAK (AE) (G Avranche) had to be eased between MEESAN AL REEF (AE) (T Durcan), which rolled outwards, and BIBERSS (LB) (T O’Shea), which then ran inwards abruptly. Jockey T O’Shea reported that BIBERSS (LB) raced greenly in the straight. Jockey R Mullen reported that AL SHIMAA (US) had a tendency to hang outwards in the straight. BADER (QA) was inclined to hang inwards in the straight, obliging Jockey R Ffrench to stop riding and straighten the colt. Following the running of this race, Apprentice S Al Mazrooei was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and was passed fit to fulfill his remaining engagement.

Approaching the 250m, KINGSHIP SPIRIT (IRE) (C Sandoval) was eased when IGUAZU FALLS (USA) (X Ziani) shifted inwards. Jockey X Ziani (IGUAZU FALLS [USA]) was reprimanded for shifting ground when insufficiently clear. Approaching the 200m, COLEPEPER (GB) (R Ffrench) clipped heels and blundered when racing to the inside of BLACKAT BLACKITTEN (IRE) (D Smith), which in turn was racing to the inside of COLONY (IRE) (P Cosgrave) and CRACKDOWN (IRE) (T Durcan). At this time, MUTUAL FORCE (USA) (S Al Mazroeei), which was racing to the inside of COLEPEPER (GB), was steadied. Jockey A Murgia reported that JOSE ADAN (USA) was inconvenienced in this incident also. On enquiry, after taking evidence from the Jockeys, which was inconclusive, the Stewards were unable to proceed with this matter or substantiate the exact reasons for this incident occurring, due to the lack of any video footage. A post-race veterinary examination of TAMAATHUL (GB) (T O’Shea) revealed the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer Mr A Al Raihe was advised that TAMAATHUL (GB) will be required to complete a satisfactory gallop which must be performed not less than 14 days after the event in the presence of the ERA Veterinary Officer. Further, a veterinary report stating that the horse displays a normal electrocardiogram (E.C.G.) must also be lodged before TAMAATHUL (GB) is permitted to be entered to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of NATIONAL PRIDE (USA) (R Mullen) revealed no abnormalities. The stable undertook to advise the Stewards if anything comes to light with the gelding in the coming days.
