NASSER AL KHALEEJ (AE) was a late scratching at 4:25pm on veterinary advice after the colt was found to be suffering a skin condition. Trainer Mr S Deeb was advised that NASSER AL KHALEEJ (AE) would not be permitted to start until such time as the colt is assessed and treated and the appropriate paperwork is submitted to the satisfaction of the ERA Veterinary Officer. PRIME D’OR (FR) (R Ffrench) jumped inwards at the start crowding AF TASALLAL (AE) (J Santiago). MAHARANI (AE) (T Durcan) was crowded on jumping between FAZZA (AE) (C Sanchez) and MH THIRTEEN (AE) (T O’Shea). FERDOUN ALAWDA (AE) (J Doyle) jumped inwards at the start and bumped SAWBAH (AE) (C Avery). Approaching the 700m, MH THIRTEEN (AE) rolled outwards momentarily, which crowded VIOLAN (AE) (S Al Taleei) outwards towards the heels of FERDOUN ALAWDA (AE), resulting in VIOLAN (AE) having to be eased momentarily. VIOLAN (AE) was held up for clear running making the turn into the home straight between BH ENZAR (AE) (G Avranche) and QASSAM W’RSAN (AE) (R Mullen). QASSAM W’RSAN (AE) returned having lost its right fore shoe in running.

DRAAZ (AE) (T O’Shea) was a late scratching at 5:30pm after it dislodged Jockey T O’Shea and got loose behind the starting gates. Trainer Mr B Al Ketbi was advised that DRAAZ (AE) would be required to paddock school to the satisfaction of the Stewards and complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. AF JARAS (AE) (G Avranche) commenced to buck shortly after the start and took no part in the race. Trainer Mr A Manuel was advised that AF JARAS (AE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test and a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the Stewards prior to being entered to race again. NOUR AL AMAL (AE) (D Smith) was slow to begin. RABIA (AE) (A Nicholls) was crowded for room and had to be restrained shortly after jumping, between AS MANUF (AE) (P Cosgrave) and AL HAMRA (AE) (C Sandoval), which was taken inwards by JAP MERSAL (AE) (C Avery), which jumped and ran inwards. Jockey J Rosales advised that SAMA AL REEF (AE) hung outwards making the turn into the home straight. AL HAMRA (AE) ran outwards sharply making the turn into the home straight whilst being ridden along with the whip. AL HAMRA (AE) then veered inwards abruptly leaving the 250m and was then unable to obtain clear running to the inside of RAAD W’RSAN (AE) (J Doyle) over the final 200m. Jockey C Sandoval (AL HAMRA [AE]) was advised that he must make greater endeavours to maintain a straight line on his mounts in future. Jockeys J Doyle and T Durcan advised that RAAD W’RSAN (AE) and ZMAN AL AJAYIB (AE) respectively, raced greenly in the straight.

COLONY (IRE) (P Cosgrave) and MARCHING TIME (GB) (J Spencer) bumped on jumping. IL GRANDE MAURIZIO (IRE) (R French) jumped outwards at the start and bumped EDDIE JOCK (IRE) (H Bentley). Leaving the 1400m, WAR MONGER (USA) (T O’Shea) ran inwards away from NUMBERS TALK (IRE) (Y Bourgois), which shifted inwards, causing ALRASM (IRE) (G Avranche) to momentarily ease. Making the turn into the home straight, IL GRANDE MAURIZIO (IRE) rolled outwards slightly, hampering MONTMORENCY (IRE) (R Mullen). FERVENT PRINCE (GB) (A Ajtebi) raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of NUMBERS TALK (IRE) revealed no abnormalities.

DYNAMITE (AE) (A Nicholls) was unable to be loaded and was subsequently withdrawn at 7:02pm. Trainer Mr H Al Hammadi was advised that DYNAMITE (AE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. On return to the scales, objections were lodged by the 4th placed rider, Jockey G Avranche (ALBAR LOTOIS [FR]) and the 3rd placed rider, Jockey D Badel (NIESHAN [FR]) against the 2nd placed TIMADIT AL MELS (FR) (C Sanchez), alleging interference inside the final 300m. After considering the evidence available, whilst it was acknowledged that there was marginal movement from TIMADIT AL MELS (FR), the Stewards were not satisfied that it had any material impact on the finishing position of either NIESHAN (FR) or ALBAR LOTOIS (FR). As such, both objections were dismissed and the placings remained as: 1st – SAHIB DU CLOS (FR) 2nd – TIMADIT AL MELS (FR) 3rd – NIESHAN (FR) Jockeys D Badel (NIESHAN [FR]) and G Avranche (ALBAR LOTOIS [FR]) were both fined AED 500 under ERA Rule 78(ii) for lodging what the Stewards deemed to be frivolous objections. SAHIB DU CLOS (FR) (R Ffrench) jumped awkwardly. KANDAR DU FALGAS (FR) (T O’Shea) was slow to begin. Approaching the 1400m, KANDAR DU FALGAS (FR) was eased when racing between ALBAR LOTOIS (FR) (G Avranche), which shifted outwards slightly, and BADAD (FR) (J Rosales), which shifted inwards slightly. Approaching the 400m, the tiring ZELLS FRED (US) (J Doyle) had to be restrained and lost its position. A short distance later, AF ALGHABRA (AE) clipped the heels of SAHIB DU CLOS (FR) (R Ffrench) and blundered. On enquiry it was established that leading up to this stage of the race, ZELLS FRED (US), which had lead during the race, was racing on the fence and was commencing to tire. Racing directly behind ZELLS FRED (US) was AF ALGHABRA (AE), to its outside and slightly in advance was SAHIB DU CLOS (FR), and to its outside and slightly in advance was BADAD (FR) (J Rosales). After considering the evidence available to them, the Stewards were of the opinion that leaving the 500m as ZELLS FRED (US) commenced to tire, AF ALGHABRA (AE) was edged outwards around ZELLS FRED (US) to avoid its heels, with these two horses bumping and racing tight to the inside of SAHIB DU CLOS (FR) for a short distance. Approaching the 400m, AF ALGHABRA (AE) bumped off the hindquarters of SAHIB DU CLOS (FR) in onto the tiring ZELLS FRED (US), which brushed the running rail and had to be restrained out of its position. After having bumped with ZELLS FRED (US), AF ALGHABRA (AE) then bumped with SAHIB DU CLOS (FR) to its outside, and ultimately clipped its heels and blundered. Notwithstanding that BADAD (FR) and SAHIB DU CLOS (FR) were racing tight to the outside of AF ALGHABRA (AE) leading up to this incident, the Stewards were of the opinion that BADAD (FR) and SAHIB DU CLOS (FR) had maintained a true line leaving the 500m and around the home turn. Based on the evidence available, the Stewards were of the opinion that the interference suffered by ZELLS FRED (US) and AF ALGHABRA (AE) was due to ZELLS FRED (US) commencing to tire at this stage of the race, and Apprentice H Bentley endeavouring to edge his mount AF ALGHABRA (AE) around the tiring ZELLS FRED (US) to avoid its heels. The Stewards determined not to take any action against any rider, other than to advise Apprentice H Bentley, that in circumstances where a horse is tiring directly in front of him, that before angling his mounts around the tiring horse’s heels, he must ensure that it is safe for himself and his fellow riders to do so. Leaving the 300m, ALBAR LOTOIS (FR) and NIESHAN (FR) brushed when attempting to work into a run between BADAD (FR) and TIMADIT AL MELS (FR), which drifted inwards marginally. ALBAR LOTOIS (FR) was eased momentarily at this time.
