ATHBARAT (AE) (C Sanchez) was fractious in the gates, then reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground. Trainer Mr A Al Shamsi was advised that ATHBARAT (AE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. GHDAHOM (AE) (J Rosales) was slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m, JAP AL ATAAF (AE) (C Peddie) raced in restricted room to the inside of WOROOD GHANTOOT (AE) (S Al Taleei) and was eased. Approaching the 700m, AF MUJERAH (AE) (A Nicholls) was eased when the tiring WOROOD GHANTOOT (AE) drifted inwards. Inside the final 100m, after initially running outwards, JAP AL ATAAF (AE) veered inwards, inconveniencing AL SALEEL (AE) (R Ffrench) and FOTOUH (AE) (S Al Reffai).

IBN BATTUTA MONLAU (FR) (G Avranche) began awkwardly. RAHEQ (FR) (J Rosales) began awkwardly and then was bumped heavily shortly after the start by GHATEEF W’RSAN (AE) (P Cosgrave) when that horse was crowded inwards by SAROOQ (FR) (W Smith), which ran inwards away from UDJIDORA DE BOZOULS (FR) (K Fallon). Passing the winning post on the first occasion, BRONZE BOY (AE) (S Al Taleei), when racing keenly, was restrained when SAHED (FR) (D Smith) shifted inwards. RAHEQ (FR), which was following BRONZE BOY (AE), was eased outwards inconveniencing RAAD W’RSAN (AE) (R Mullen), which was also eased and inconvenienced GHATEEF W’RSAN (AE) and SAROOQ (FR) as a consequence. On enquiry, it was established that both BRONZE BOY (AE) and SAHED (FR) had commenced to race keenly leading up to this point of the race and that after initially being crowded to the inside of SAHED (FR), BRONZE BOY (AE) and SAHED (FR) both drifted outwards and then shifted inwards passing the winning post, and it was at this time that BRONZE BOY (AE) was restrained. Notwithstanding that the racing manners of both horses had contributed to this incident, Jockey D Smith (SAHED [FR]) was advised to ensure that he affords his fellow riders sufficient room in similar circumstances. Also passing the winning post on the first occasion, MESBAAH (GB) (T O’Shea), which was racing keenly, eased outwards away from the heels of AGDALYA (FR) (J Doyle) and raced tight to the inside of KARID’OR (FR) (R Ffrench) for a short distance. Leaving the 600m, BRONZE BOY (AE), which was commencing to weaken, was restrained when racing to the inside of RAHEQ (FR), which was racing to the inside of KARID’OR (FR). RAAD W’RSAN (AE), which was following BRONZE BOY (AE) at this time, was eased as a consequence. On enquiry, it was established that at this stage of the race, RAHEQ (FR) was racing tight to the inside of KARID’OR (FR) and lay inwards abruptly away from KARID’OR (FR), causing the tiring BRONZE BOY (AE) to be restrained. Given the circumstances, specifically that the evidence suggested it was an abrupt shift from RAHEQ (FR), no action was taken against any rider. After making the home bend, KING SAKBE (FR) (R Hills) shifted outwards to obtain clear running and bumped with IBN BATTUTA MONLAU (FR). KING SAKBE (FR) then had difficulty obtaining clear running when KARID’OR (FR) shifted outwards. When angling back to the inside, KING SAKBE (FR) was again impeded for clear running and near the 100m, KING SAKBE (FR) was crowded and eased between KARID’OR (FR), which drifted inwards and DAHMA W’RSAN (AE) (H Bentley), which drifted outwards. In this incident, KING SAKBE (FR) and DAHMA W’RSAN (AE) bumped and became unbalanced.

ETIHAD (AE) (A Atzeni) was slow to begin. NEFERMAN (FR) (T O’Shea) jumped awkwardly. RAKKAD AL ASAYL (AE) (C Sanchez) jumped outwards at the start inconveniencing DAHDAH (AE) (P Cosgrave). AF BELADI (AE) (W Smith) was crowded for room on jumping between SUNSHINE (AE) (A Murgia) and DYNAMIK’AL FAUQUEY (FR) (J Rosales). Near the 450m, BINT MILAN (AE) (S Al Mazrooei), which was commencing to weaken, drifted outwards causing MAXYMUS (GB) (R Mullen) to be restrained. AF MAYA HAB (AE) (K Fallon), which was following, had to be checked severely to avoid the heels of MAXYMUS (GB). AF QAMOOS (AE) (G Avranche), which was following AF MAYA HAB (AE), was also severely restrained and shifted outwards forcing NEFERMAN (FR) wider on the track. On enquiry, it was established that BINT MILAN (AE) was commencing to weaken and had a tendency to lay outwards at this time and again on straightening. Given the nature of the video evidence available, it was inconclusive as to whether or not Apprentice S Al Mazrooei (BINT MILAN [AE]) had made sufficient efforts to prevent his mount from shifting ground. In giving Apprentice S Al Mazrooei the benefit of the doubt, Stewards acknowledged his relative inexperience, and advised him that he must make maximum efforts to ensure that his mounts maintain their line in similar circumstances. Stewards also advised Apprentice S Al Mazrooei that he will be required to participate in the organized trials at Meydan with the other junior Apprentices and the senior Jockeys to assist in his development. Making the home bend, BINT MILAN (AE) drifted outwards inconveniencing AF MAYA HAB (AE). Jockey T Durcan reported that BH DAHMAN (AE) hung inwards throughout. Jockey T O’Shea reported that NEFERMAN (FR) hung inwards and outwards throughout. Jockey G Avranche (AF QAMOOS [AE]) was fined AED 1000 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) for hitting his horse with the whip without giving it time to respond.
