PETRA DE FAUST (FR) was a late scratching at 2:10pm when it was established that the wrong horse had been transported to the racecourse. On enquiry, Trainer Mr J Peromingo was fined AED 500 for breaching ERA Rule 9(xvi)(b). On return to the scales, an objection was lodged by the 2nd placed rider, J Doyle (AS BAHE [AE]) against the 1st placed ALMAJD (FR) (T O’Shea) alleging interference over the final 150m. After considering the evidence available, it was established that at this point of the race, ALMAJD (FR) veered inwards abruptly, causing AS BAHE (AE) to shift inwards abruptly away from ALMAJD (FR) to avoid its heels. AS BAHE (AE) was then obliged to alter course outwards around the heels of ALMAJD (FR). The Stewards were satisfied that the interference suffered by AS BAHE (AE) was greater than the official margin of ½ length and accordingly the objection was upheld and the placings were amended to: 1st – AS BAHE (AE) 2nd – ALMAJD (FR) 3rd – BIBI BASHA (AE) LWIZA (AE) (M Henry) was crowded on jumping between FERDOUN ALAWDA (AE) (A Nicholls) and ALMAJD (FR) (T O’Shea). BARQ (FR) (J Rosales) was crowded on jumping between SAHM W’RSAN (AE) (R Mullen) and BH ALMOZIEG (AE) (C Sandoval), which jumped outwards. BIBI BASHA (AE) (H Bentley) and AS KATUF (AE) (G Faucon) bumped on jumping. Leaving the 150m, ALMAJD (FR) veered inwards abruptly, causing AS BAHE (AE) to shift inwards abruptly, and then to be restrained and alter course outwards around the heels of ALMAJD (FR). Further to the objection enquiry, it was established that the racing manners of ALMAJD (FR) was the cause of the interference, and accordingly no action was taken against Jockey T O’Shea. AS BAHE (AE) shifted outwards approaching the finishing line.

GHATEEF W’RSAN (AE) (P Cosgrave) and ETIHAD (AE) (T Durcan) were slow to begin. The saddle on AF MAYA HAB (AE) shifted forwards passing the wining post on the first occasion, resulting in Apprentice S Al Mazrooei not being able to ride the horse in the normal manner. Jockey T Durcan was of the opinion that ETIHAD (AE) did not handle the dirt surface. Jockey J Doyle advised that in his opinion AL SHADEN (AE) did not stay the trip.

After being loaded into the starting gates, BUSKER (USA) (P Cosgrave) reared up and got a leg stuck over the side of the starting gate. BUSKER (USA) was subsequently examined by the oncourse Veterinarian and was passed fit to start. BOOMERANG (URU) (J Rosales) was slow to begin and was then crowded between MIR HY (USA) (S Al Mazrooei) and POLAR VISION (USA) (M Khan), which veered outwards. FIERINESS (IRE) (R Mullen) was crowded for room shortly after jumping between MORAHIN (IRE) (J Doyle) and MYSTERIOUS SECRET (USA) (T Durcan), which ran inwards away from EXCEED TEMPTATION (GB) (H Bentley). HICKORY CAT (KSA) (D Smith) was impeded from the 900m until the 600m when SWISS LAKE SWEETIE (USA) (C Sandoval) began to tire. BUSKER (USA) and LA KALAM (GB) (C Sanchez) bumped on making the turn into the home straight.

NANNI THE TEASER (USA) (R Mullen) jumped outwards at the start and bumped FLOWERS IN SPRING (FR) (A Nicholls). PRINCESS ROSE ANNE (IRE) (C Sanchez) was slow to begin. Leaving the 250m, PASTEL BLUE (IRE) (Y Bourgois) drifted inwards and bumped DUBAI SET (GB). PASTEL BLUE (IRE) then lay inwards carrying DUBAI SET (GB) inwards for a short distance.
