DAYIM ELSAIF (AUS) (G Avranche) and AL TARIQ (USA) (H Bentley) were slow to begin. STORMDERE (USA) (Y Bourgois) and BIG ZEE (IRE) (R Ffrench) bumped on jumping. SENOR RONALDO (USA) (P Cosgrave) and ARABIAN WOLF (USA) (D Smith) bumped on jumping. STORMDERE (USA) raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 300m, HADBA (IRE) (S Al Mazrooei) and AL TARIQ (USA) bumped. AL ADHAM (GB) (W Smith) was impeded for clear running near the 300m. Leaving the 200m, HADBA (IRE) shifted inwards taking BIG ZEE (IRE) in onto STORMDERE (USA) with both horses having to be restrained and lose their positions. HADBA (IRE) then continued to shift inwards and approaching the 150m caused AL ADHAM (GB) to be restrained and alter course. PASQUINO (USA) (R Mullen) and MADAWI (GB) (T Durcan) were both inconvenienced as a result of this interference. Apprentice S Al Mazrooei (HADBA [IRE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 6 days (Abu Dhabi 4th December, Meydan 8th December, Sharjah 10th December, Abu Dhabi 11th December, Jebel Ali 16th December and Abu Dhabi 18th December 2011). When considering an appropriate penalty, the Stewards took into account the severity of the interference, but were also mindful that Apprentice S Al Mazrooei is an inexperienced first year rider. Consequently it was determined to reduce the length of the ban from 8 days to 6 days given the inexperience of Apprentice S Al Mazrooei. Approaching the finishing line, HADBA (IRE) was ridden up onto the heels of GARBAH (IRE) (A Ajtebi) and had to be restrained and alter course abruptly. Apprentice S Al Mazrooei (HADBA [IRE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days to be served concurrently with the earlier suspension (Abu Dhabi 4th December and Meydan 8th December 2011). A post-race veterinary examination of DAYIM ELSAIF (AUS) revealed no abnormalities. GARBAH (IRE) returned with cuts to both hind legs.

Jockey Y Bourgois (ELUSEENA [IRE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Abu Dhabi 4th December and Meydan 8th December, 2011). Approaching the 800m, ELUSEENA (IRE) had continued to shift inwards carrying SATWA STREET (IRE) inwards onto EXPIRE (IRE) (R Ffrench), which had to be restrained and lose its position. MORTBET (IRE) was held up for clear running until leaving the 300m. Apprentice A Murgia advised that MUFFRAAJ (GB) had travelled well in running but had tired in the home straight and may benefit from the run. Jockey W Smith reported that ALWAYS EMIRATES (USA) did not travel well at any stage of the race and did not feel right in its action.
