DR FAUSTUS (IRE) (K Fallon) was slow to begin. SARRSAR (GB) (M Barzalona) and IBN AL NAFIS (USA) (R Mullen) bumped on jumping. CANADIAN (IRE) (P Cosgrave) raced keenly in the early stages. After passing the winning post approaching the 1700m, JEDI (GB) (C Sanchez) shifted inwards, which caused CAPPONI (IRE) (L Dettori) to shift inwards away from JEDI (GB) slightly, which initially caused SARRSAR (GB) to be momentarily eased. IBN AL NAFIS (USA), which was then racing to the inside of CAPPONI (IRE) and which was racing very strongly, was restrained and shifted inwards, which resulted in ROCHDALE (GB) (R Ffrench) having to be restrained and lose its position. DR FAUSTUS (IRE), which was following ROCHDALE (GB), was eased as a consequence. On enquiry, whilst it was acknowledged that IBN AL NAFIS (USA) was racing very strongly and had been a major contributor to this incident, evidence also indicated that Jockey C Sanchez (JEDI [GB]) could have given more room to CAPPONI (IRE) when he crossed that horse. As such, Jockey C Sanchez (JEDI [GB]) was warned and advised that he must ensure that he gives sufficient room to runners when he shifts ground in future. Approaching the 250m, EDDIE JOCK (IRE) (H Bentley) was momentarily eased when MARAHEB (GB) (R Hills) shifted outwards away from DR FAUSTUS (IRE), which shifted outwards. Leaving the 150m, CAPPONI (IRE) and SARRSAR (GB) bumped.
