ROYAL TIGRE (USA) (M Demuro) and NEED TO KNOW (SAF) (R Ffrench) bumped on jumping. SAND STAMP (FR) (R Mullen) and FISCAL (GB) (A Atzeni) bumped on jumping. CODY MAVERICK (IRE) (J Doyle) was crowded and restrained shortly after jumping between ENERGIA DUST (BRZ) (V De Azeredo) and RIGHT TO DREAM (IRE) (L Dettori), which shifted inwards. Approaching the 800m, KENNY POWERS (GB) (K Fallon) eased momentarily. BIBLE BLACK (IRE) (R Moore), which was following, was eased as a consequence. A short distance later, KENNY POWERS (GB) again eased momentarily away from ROYAL TIGRE (USA). Passing the 800m, FISCAL (GB) shifted inwards carrying STRAIT OF ZANZIBAR (USA) (S Foley) in onto OLD PAL (FR) (W Buick), which was restrained from its position. On enquiry, Jockey A Atzeni (FISCAL [GB]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 2 days (Abu Dhabi, 12th February and Meydan, 16th February 2012). Passing the 250m, BURANO (IRE) (R Hills) drifted outwards crowding STRAIT OF ZANZIBAR (USA) outwards towards CODY MAVERICK (IRE). Inside the final 50m, ENERGIA DUST (BRZ) was momentarily eased. When questioned regarding the performance of IP MAN (NZ), both Trainer Mr S Burridge and Jockey O Chavez where unable to offer a plausible explanation for the disappointing performance. They did both state that IP MAN (NZ) has a tendency to be quite temperamental and that the gelding did not appear to race genuinely in today’s event. Trainer Mr S Burridge further advised that he may experiment with adding Blinkers to the gelding’s gear for its next start. MARY FILDES (IRE) (J Doyle) raced keenly in the early stages. PIMPERNEL (IRE) (M Barzalona) was impeded for clear running rounding the home bend behind MOON SPUN (SAF) (R Moore) and to the inside of COLORFUL NOTION (IRE) (M Demuro), with PIMPERNEL (IRE) and COLORFUL NOTION (IRE) bumping on a number of occasions. PIMPERNEL (IRE) then shifted outwards bumping COLORFUL NOTION (IRE) out onto MARY FILDES (IRE). On enquiry, Jockey M Barzalona (PIMPERNEL [IRE]) was reprimanded and advised that he must exercise greater care when he is endeavoring to gain a run and that if the run is not available he should take alternative action rather than forcing the run.

ROCK JOCK (IRE) (T Durcan) stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer Mr E Charpy was advised that ROCK JOCK (IRE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. HUMIDOR (IRE) (L Dettori) was fractious during the parade and was unable to be ridden to the starting gates. After being led to the starting gates, HUMIDOR (IRE) was remounted and was then hard to load. Trainer Mr G Baker was advised that HUMIDOR (IRE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test, and must be paddock schooled to the satisfaction of the Stewards, prior to being entered to race again. HUMIDOR (IRE) jumped awkwardly and bumped HAPPY DUBAI (IRE) (T O’Shea). MAR ADENTRO (FR) (C Soumillon) lay inwards shortly after jumping crowding DAFEEF (GB) (R Hills) in onto IVER BRIDGE LAD (GB) (M O’Connell) with DAFEEF (GB) and IVER BRIDGE LAD (GB) bumping and DAFEEF (GB) being eased. MAR ADENTRO (FR) continued to lay inwards momentarily crowding IVER BRIDGE LAD (GB). BOHEMIAN MELODY (IRE) (R Moore) was impeded for clear running passing the 500m.

SIR REGINALD (GB) was eased at this time and then commenced to race keenly. Jockey K Fallon (KRYPTON FACTOR [GB]) and Jockey C O’Donoghue (ANGEL’S PURSUIT [IRE]) were reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i) in that they used their whips in the forehand position forward of the saddle.
