GAME STALKER (USA) (R Ffrench) was slow to begin. Jockey W Smith advised that CAPTAIN RIO (USA) did not feel right in its action at any stage of the event. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance of PARVAAZ (IRE), Jockey P Cosgrave stated that the gelding compounded badly over the final 300m and he elected to ease him down. He also added that, in his opinion, PARVAAZ (IRE) may not have been comfortable with the head gear that it carried today. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. Jockey R Mullen (AL RAZI [USA]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i) in that he used his whip in the forehand position forward of the saddle.

DAHES (IRE) was withdrawn at 4:34pm on veterinary advice after its rider T O’Shea had reported that the horse did not feel right in its action on the way to the starting gates. A subsequent veterinary examination found DAHES (IRE) to be suffering from acute back muscle soreness. Trainer Mr M Ramadan was advised that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse being permitted to be entered to race again, and that the horse could not race prior to 9 November 2012. On return to scale, an objection was lodged by Jockey P Dobbs, the rider of 5th placed, FIRSTKNIGHT (GB), against 3rd placed, PASTEL BLUE (IRE) (T Koyuncu), alleging interference between the 300m and 200m. After taking evidence from the riders and viewing the available patrol footage, it was found that after leaving the 300m, PASTEL BLUE (IRE) started to shift outwards carrying FIRSTKNIGHT (GB) out onto NANNI THE TEASER (USA) (R Mullen), resulting in NANNI THE TEASER (USA) having to restrained from its position. PASTEL BLUE (IRE) then continued to shift outwards, crowding FIRSTKNIGHT (GB) out onto SPECIAL BOY (IRE) (W Smith), with those two horses racing tight for a distance, and then approaching the 200m FIRSTKNIGHT (GB) had to be restrained from its position. Consequently, the Stewards were satisfied that had the interference not occurred, FIRSTKNIGHT (GB) would have finished in advance of PASTEL BLUE (IRE). Accordingly, the placings were amended to: 1st – MYOWNWAY (GB) 2nd – SPECIAL BOY (IRE) 3rd – SHARK IN THE SEA (GB) 4th – FIRSTKNIGHT (GB) 5th – PASTEL BLUE (IRE) SPECIAL BOY (IRE) was crowded on jumping, between FIRSTKNIGHT (GB) and NANNI THE TEASER (USA). Further to the interference between the 300m and 200m, which was the subject of the objection enquiry, at a subsequent enquiry, Apprentice T Koyuncu (PASTEL BLUE [IRE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for 5 days (Abu Dhabi 11th, Jebel Ali 16th, Sharjah 17th, Abu Dhabi 18th and Meydan 22nd November 2012).

DABOOS (USA) then reared on jumping. WADI WANDERRER (IRE) (M Khan) was hard to load, was then fractious in the gates and then reared as the gates opened. Trainer Mr M Al Muhairi was advised that WADI WANDERER (IRE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. KAISS (USA) (D O’Donohoe) was quite fractious in the starting gates. Trainer Mr S Seemar was advised that KAISS (USA) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again.
