The Stewards received a report from the ERA Veterinary Officer regarding evidence that suggested that AF EMTILAAKI (AE) may have been treated in contravention of ERA Instruction 16. After hearing statements from both Trainer Mr I Al Hadhrami and Assistant Trainer Mr R ben Attia, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of AF EMTILAAKI (AE) at 2.02pm and an enquiry into this matter was adjourned until a later date. AL GHARAAF W’RSAN (AE) (A Ajtebi) was unable to be loaded in the starting gates and was a late scratching at 2.15pm. Given the horse’s history of similar issues, Trainer Mr B Al Ketbi was advised that AL GHARAAF W’RSAN (AE) would be required to complete three satisfactory stalls tests prior to it being permitted to be entered to race again. Near the 1000m, QASSAM W’RSAN (AE) (M Monaghan) drifted inwards and brushed the running rail.

ESPIRITU (FR) (T Durcan) stood flat footed as the starting gates opened and lost considerable ground. Trainer Mr G Al Marri was advised that ESPIRITU (FR) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to it being permitted to be entered to race again. REGGAETON (ARG) (T O’Shea) stumbled badly on jumping and lost ground. Jockey T O’Shea advised that he thought REGGAETON (ARG) may have injured itself in this incident and he therefore elected not to put the horse under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination of REGGAETON (ARG) revealed no abnormalities. Apprentice M Monaghan advised that the saddle on STALKING SHADOW (USA) slipped forward shortly after the start, placing him in a degree of difficulty for the duration of the race.
