DYNAMIK’AL FAUQUEY (FR) (C Sanchez) and MESBAAH (GB) (D O’Neill) were slow to begin. SIMBAR DU LOUP (FR) (G Avranche) and MH DHAWI (AE) (X Ziani) began awkwardly. Jockey S Hitchcott reported that the saddle on CALLATERAL (US) shifted forward making the first bend placing him in difficulty, leaving him with little control over his mount. As such, CALLATERAL (US) effectively took no part in the race. KING SAKBE (FR) (P Hanagan) raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Leaving the 1800m, DIG DAGON (AE) (P Cosgrave) raced in an awkward position to the inside of the heels of FORGEHILL CEZANNE (FR) (A Nicholls) for a short distance. Leaving the 300m, AL WAQQAD (AE) (A de Vries) shifted outwards and bumped DIG DAGON (AE). Passing the 200m, AMEER AL SRAYA (AE) (H Bentley) drifted inwards causing MESBAAH (GB) to be eased. Jockey H Bentley (AMEER AL SRAYA [AE]) was warned and advised to ensure that he makes a greater effort to maintain a straight course.

BAREK W’RSAN (AE) (D Smith) dwelt as the gates opened and was reluctant to jump. WATHIK W’RSAN (AE) (J Santiago) and NA’EEM W’RSAN (AE) (A Murgia) bumped heavily on jumping and NA’EEM W’RSAN (AE) then veered outwards. IBN BATTUTA MONLAU (FR) (W Smith) jumped outwards at the start bumping SWYFT (FR) (S Hitchcott) out onto TAKAAMUL (GB) (D O’Neill). SAHM W’RSAN (AE) (S de Sousa) raced keenly in the early stages. When questioned regarding the performance of ELRAAWY (FR), Jockey P Hanagan stated that the horse was expected to run well, and he could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination of ELRAAWY (FR) revealed no abnormalities.

AL HAMRA (AE) (P Cosgrave) was resaddled after arriving at the starting gates. RICHLY BLESSED (US) (S Hitchcott), UM DORMANE (AE) (D O’Donohoe) and WAJFAH W’RSAN (AE) (S de Sousa) were slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, SHAJARET EDDOR AL REEF (AE) (J Rosales) drifted inwards momentarily crowding MAHARANI (AE) (A Nicholls). The Stewards questioned Jockey A Nicholls (MAHARANI [AE]) regarding the movement of his left arm at this stage of the race, as it appeared to come close to the arm of Jockey J Rosales (SHAJARET EDDOR AL REEF [AE]). Whilst noting that there appeared to be two quick exaggerated movements of his arm towards Jockey J Rosales (SHAJARET EDDOR AL REEF [AE]), the Stewards accepted the evidence of Jockey A Nicholls (MAHARANI [AE]) that he was adjusting his grip on his reins. Notwithstanding, the Stewards advised Jockey A Nicholls to ride in a manner that is not open to question. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, AL HAMRA (AE) drifted off the inside, which carried AGDALYA (FR) (H Bentley) outwards causing MAHARANI (AE) to be crowded and eased away from the heels of SHAJARET EDDOR AL REEF (AE). A post-race veterinary examination of AS MISKHA (AE) revealed the mare to be lame in the right fore. Trainer Mr A Manuel was advised that AS MISKHA (AE) would be required to complete a Suitability to Race examination with the ERA Veterinary Officer prior to it being permitted to be entered to race again.

DHAREEF (AE) was fractious in the parade ring and proved difficult for its rider, Jockey J Rosales, to mount. Trainer Dr J Bittar was advised that DHAREEF (AE) would be required to paddock school to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to it being permitted to be entered to race again. ANNABAK W’RSAN (AE) (R Mullen) was reluctant to jump and then began awkwardly. NOHAM DU CAYROU (FR) (A de Vries), DUZAR (FR) (C Sanchez) and LIVE RICH (US) (X Ziani) were slow to begin. SARABELLA (FR) (D O’Neill) raced keenly in the early stages. Leaving the 250m, RICHLORE (US) (S Hitchcott) shifted inwards crowding ALKAR (FR) (R Ffrench) into onto SNF MAHER (AE) (P Dobbs), causing ALKAR (FR) to be restrained. SNF MAHER (AE) then shifted inwards onto AF MURSID (AE) (T Durcan), causing it to be eased. MOOSER (AE) (G Avranche), which was racing to the inside of SNF MAHER (AE) and to the inside and forward of AF MURSID (AE) at this time, drifted inwards off its line for a stride. On enquiry, Jockey S Hitchcott (RICHLORE [US]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was suspended from riding in races for 2 days (31 January 2013 at Meydan and 2 February 2013 at Meydan). Leaving the 100m, SNF MAHER (AE) shifted outwards causing ALKAR (FR) to be restrained away from NOHAM DU CAYROU (FR). On enquiry, given the evidence before them, particularly that Jockey R Ffrench (ALKAR [FR]) had stated that he elected to restrain his mount given that it had not become fully balanced following the incident earlier in the straight, and also that Jockey P Dobbs (SNF MAHER [AE]) had desisted with using the whip and had endeavoured to straighten his mount with the reins as soon as it had commenced to shift, the Stewards determined to take no action other than to issue a general warning to Jockey P Dobbs (SNF MAHER [AE]) to ensure that he makes every endeavour to maintain a straight course.

AF MAYA HAB (AE) (A Murgia) was crowded at the start between RAKKAD AL ASAYL (AE) (S Al Mazrooei) and YAZAN (AE) (R Mullen). Near the 1200m, RAKKAD AL ASAYL (AE) was restrained when MH AL WADI (AE) (A de Vries) shifted inwards. On enquiry, Apprentice S Al Mazrooei advised that his mount was proving difficult to control and that stage of the race and he was in some difficulty and he had not received any pressure from other runners. Accordingly, on the evidence before them, the Stewards determined to take no action against any rider. Leaving the 100m, AF MAYA HAB (AE) shifted to the inside of the heels of PRIME D’OR (FR) (R Ffrench) to improve, and in doing so crowded DESERT ROSE (US) (J Rosales), causing it to be restrained. On enquiry, Jockey A Murgia (AF MAYA HAB [AE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was suspended from riding in races for 2 days (31 January 2013 at Meydan and 2 February 2013 at Meydan).
