EXCEEDED (GB) (F Cakar) was fractious in the parade ring and was unable to be ridden through the tunnel. Trainer Mr R Bouresly was advised that EXCEEDED (GB) would be required to paddock school to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to being entered to race again. Furthermore, if EXCEEDED (GB) is to race at Meydan again in the future, it must be tunnel schooled at Meydan racecourse on racenight, prior to be entered to race at Meydan again. IBN SINA (IRE) (S James), which galloped for a short distance in the preliminary, underwent a veterinary examination at the starting gates and was passed fit to start. MIDNIGHT MOON (GB) (J Rosales) was slow to begin. A short distance after the start, SITTING BEAR (USA) (P Dobbs) and GUNBOAT (IRE) (H Bentley) were crowded and eased between INTERPRET (USA) (W Smith), and LIGHTFOOT (GB) (D O’Donohoe), which shifted outwards. GUNBOAT (IRE) travelled wide in the early and middle stages. EXCEEDED (GB) raced keenly in the early and middle stages and then gave ground when placed under pressure from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination of EXCEEDED (GB) revealed no abnormalities. IBN SINA (IRE) returned having bled from both nostrils. Trainer Mr H Albloushi was advised that IBN SINA (IRE) would not be permitted to start until it had passed a satisfactory gallop test in the presence of an ERA Veterinary Officer, to be conducted not before 21 days from the date of bleeding.

BOOGIE WALTZER (GB) was a late scratching at 7:02pm after the mare was reluctant to come out of the tunnel and proceed to the start. Trainer Mr M Ibrahim was advised that BOOGIE WALTZER (GB) would be required to paddock school to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to being entered to race again. Furthermore, if BOOGIE WALTZER (GB) is to race at Meydan again in the future, it must be tunnel schooled at Meydan racecourse on racenight, prior to be entered to race at Meydan again. ESPIRITU (M Aida) was slow to begin. IZAAJ (USA) (A de Vries) began awkwardly. Approaching the 1200m, FESTIVAL CITY (GB) (J Rosales) shied away from the running rail, hampering COMMANDER CAVE (USA) (D O’Donohoe) to its outside. Passing the 1200m, MUJRAYAAT (IRE) (D O’Neill) shifted inwards crowding BLACK SNOWFLAKE (USA) (C O’Donoghue) in onto LAYALI AL ANDALUS (GB) (M Monaghan), which was eased from its position. On enquiry, Jockey D O’Neill (MUJRAYAAT [IRE]) was reprimanded and advised that he must allow sufficient room to the runners on his inside. Rounding the home bend, INNOCUOUS (GB) (R Ffrench) lay inwards momentarily crowding TIZ NOW TIZ THEN (USA) (P Cosgrave). MAATH GOOL (GB) (W Smith) and COMMANDER CAVE (USA) then raced tight and bumped for a short distance between TIZ NOW TIZ THEN (USA) and FESTIVAL CITY (GB), which drifted outwards as it tired. On straightening, LAYALI AL ANDALUS (GB) was impeded and altered course to avoid the tiring COMMANDER CAVE (USA). INNOCUOUS (GB) raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance of MUJRAYAAT (IRE), Jockey D O’Neill stated that the gelding seemed fine its action and added that the gelding had become heated in the parade and this may have contributed to its performance.

On return to the scales, a Stewards’ enquiry was called for possible interference near the 150m between the 2nd placed, FARRIER (USA) (R Mullen), and the 3rd placed, CAPITAL ATTRACTION (USA) (T O’Shea). After taking evidence from the riders of both horses and viewing the available patrol footage, the Stewards acknowledged that at this point of the race, FARRIER (USA) had drifted inwards and made slight contact with CAPITAL ATTRACTION (USA), marginally impeding its line. However, it was also noted that over the concluding stages, CAPITAL ATTRACTION (USA) had drifted outwards carrying FARRIER (USA) slightly off its line. Notwithstanding the small margin between the two horses at the finish line, the Stewards could not be satisfied that had the interference not occurred, that CAPITAL ATTRACTION (USA) would have definitely finished in front of FARRIER (USA). Accordingly, the result of the race remained unchanged as: 1st – FAMOUS WARRIOR (IRE) 2nd – FARRIER (USA) 3rd – CAPITAL ATTRACTION (USA) REDEMPTOR (GB) (S Hitchcott) and MAALI (IRE) (R Ffrench) were slow to begin. MUTAJARE (IRE) (H Bentley) was crowded at the start between MAQARAAT (IRE) (P Cosgrave) and ABJER (FR) (A Ajtebi), which jumped outwards. MUTAJARE (IRE) raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 500m, MAQARAAT (IRE) was impeded for clear running behind ABJER (FR). Jockey C O’Donoghue reported that NATIONALISM (GB) lost its action near the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. Jockey J Doyle reported that TESSLAM (GB) lost its action near the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. MAALI (IRE) returned with lacerations to its right hind leg.

EL MUQBIL (IRE) (D O’Neill) and LINDNER (GER) (R Mullen) were slow to begin. Passing the 1600m, NEEDLELEAF (USA) (C Sandoval) commenced to race keenly and shifted outwards, crowding BUSKER (USA) (A De Vries) out onto GOBOOLL (GB) (J Doyle). Near the 350m, NEEDLELEAF (USA) was eased momentarily when EL MUQBIL (IRE) shifted inwards. MASAALEK (GB) (P Dobbs) shifted inwards and outwards in the home straight, and inside the 50m, when it shifted inwards, EL MUQBIL (IRE) was crowded and eased to its inside. On enquiry, Jockey P Dobbs (MASAALEK [GB]) was advised that in similar circumstances he should desist with his use of the whip and maintain a straight course. Jockey R Ffrench reported that SHAFGAAN (GB) hung outwards throughout. NEEDLELEAF (USA) returned having lost its left fore shoe in running.
