LA KALAM (GB) (W Smith) underwent a veterinary examination after arriving at the starting gates and was subsequently withdrawn at 6:27pm after the mare was found to have blood in its right nostril. EARL OF CARRICK (USA) (C Sandoval) and SITTING BEAR (USA) (P Dobbs) were slow to begin. EARTH TOUR (GB) (P Cosgrave) jumped awkwardly. Shortly after making the home bend, MAALI (IRE) (P Hanagan) and EARTH TOUR (GB) bumped when MAALI (IRE) was held up for clear running behind HAZAZ (IRE) (S Al Mazrooei), which was commencing to tire. MAALI (IRE) then rolled inwards inconveniencing EARTH TOUR (GB). Approaching the 300m, PETTY OFFICER (IRE) (A De Vries) was restrained between QUEEN OF ALBA (IRE) (T O’Shea), which shifted outwards slightly and RACE TO DUBAI (USA) (H Bentley), which lay inwards slightly. MIDNIGHT MOON (GB) (C Sanchez) was held up for clear running after making the home bend until the 250m. Jockey A Murgia (POLYPHEMUS [USA]) dropped his whip near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination of POLYPHEMUS (USA), which finished tailed off, revealed no abnormalities. A post-race veterinary examination of LA KALAM (GB), confirmed that the horse had not bled and accordingly no embargo was placed on the horse.

After leaving the 100m, THAKIF (FR) (H Bentley) attempted to bite QUITE A SHOW (US). When questioned regarding the performance of KANDAR DU FALGAS (FR), Jockey P Hanagan could offer no explanations. Jockey T O’Shea (AF ALGHABRA [AE]) was fined AED 3000 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vi) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency.
