ELRAAWY (FR) (S Hitchcott) was slow to begin. VERSAC PY (FR) (P Hanagan) and FRYVOLOUS (FR) (T O’Shea) bumped on jumping. FRYVOLOUS (FR) raced wide in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination of FRYVOLOUS (FR) revealed no abnormalities. Jockey S de Sousa (GHALIB [FR]) was fined AED 1500 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) in that he used his whip without allowing time for his mount to respond.

PISCO SOUR (USA) (W Buick) and NOVELTY SEEKER (USA) (M Barzalona) began awkwardly. TROIS ROIS (FR) (A Murgia) was slow to begin. Near the 600m, TROIS ROIS (FR) was restrained when racing to the inside of CERTERACH (IRE) (S Foley), which was racing to the inside of the heels of KIDNAPPED (AUS) (M Monaghan). On enquiry, it was established that CERTERACH (IRE) and TROIS ROIS (FR) were racing tight to the inside of KIDNAPPED (AUS) for a short distance before this incident, and as KIDNAPPED (AUS) weakened and rolled inwards slightly, this accentuated the tightness. Jockey A Murgia advised that (TROIS ROIS [FR]) was not travelling well enough at this stage and he therefore elected to restrain from this position. On the evidence available to them, the Stewards could not be satisfied that this incident was due to rider error, and therefore it was noted as a racing incident. Jockey S de Sousa reported that AHZEEMAH (IRE) hung outwards throughout. Jockey S de Sousa (AHZEEMAH [IRE]) was fined AED 2500 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i) in that he used his whip in the forehand position forward of the saddle. Jockey S Foley (CERTERACH [IRE]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i) in that he used his whip in the forehand position forward of the saddle. A post-race veterinary examination of ITHOUGHTITWASOVER (IRE) (K Fallon) revealed the horse to be lame in the right fore. Trainer Mr M Johnston was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required for ITHOUGHTITWASOVER (IRE) prior to it being permitted to be entered to race again.

PRODUCER (GB) (R Hughes) was difficult to load. Trainer Mr R Hannon was advised that he must attempt to rectify the starting gate manners of PRODUCER (GB) prior to its next race start. MARINER’S CROSS (IRE) (A Ajtebi) began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, RED DUKE (USA) (W Buick) was crowded and eased between JET LEGEND (SAF) (D O’Neill) and DON’T CALL ME (IRE) (R Mullen), which was carried inwards by YAA WAYL (IRE) (S de Sousa). JET LEGEND (SAF) was retired from the race near the 1300m. DON’T CALL ME (IRE) was impeded for clear running near the 300m and also again over the concluding stages. BANNA BOIRCHE (IRE) (S Foley) was impeded for clear running near the 200m. ROYAL RIDGE (SAF) (P Hanagan) and PRODUCER (GB) bumped approaching the finishing line. Jockey R Hughes (PRODUCER [GB]) was fined AED 1500 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i) in that he used his whip in the forehand position forward of the saddle. A post-race veterinary examination of JET LEGEND (SAF) revealed the horse to have sustained an injury to its right fore and it was subsequently euthanized. Adjourned Enquiries From Meydan – Thursday 31 January 2013 Race 6. Dubal Trophy 1400m (Turf) Leaving the 250m, FIELD OF DREAM (SAF) (H Turner) was crowded for room and blundered when racing between FINAL BUTTON (SAF) (P Cosgrave) to its inside, and JAASOOS (IRE) (J Doyle) to its outside. Racing further to the outside of JAASOOS (IRE) at this time was RED DUBAWI (IRE) (F Lynch). On enquiry, in the absence of Jockey H Turner (FIELD OF DREAM [SAF]), it was established that JAASOOS (IRE), which was hanging inwards, shifted inwards further away from RED DUBAWI (IRE), which drifted inwards as it weakened. This movement inwards by JAASOOS (IRE) caused FIELD OF DREAM (SAF) to clip the heels of JAASOOS (IRE) and blunder. It was noted that Jockey J Doyle was unable to ride his horse in the normal manner to the finish of the race as he was unable to keep a straight course. The Stewards were of the opinion that Jockey J Doyle (JAASOOS [IRE]) had made sufficient effort to keep his mount straight, and therefore attribute this incident to the racing manners of JAASOOS (IRE). The Stewards will contact Jockey H Turner (FIELD OF DREAM [SAF]) and inform her of their findings with regard to this matter. ERA (Meydan) Offices – Monday 4 February 2013 From Meydan – Saturday 2 February 2013 Race 4. Longines Conquest 1900m (All-Weather) Leaving the 350m, UKRAINIAN (IRE) (S Al Mazrooei) shifted inwards causing LAYALI DUBAI (USA) (M Barzalona) to be restrained. On enquiry, Apprentice S Al Mazrooei (UKRAINIAN [IRE]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was suspended from riding in races for two days (14 and 16 February 2013 at Meydan). Race 6. Longines Prima Luna 1400m (All-Weather) After making the home bend, near the 300m INNOCUOUS (GB) (T O’Shea) was restrained when racing to the inside of CURZON LINE (GB) (R Ffrench). ALRAASED (USA) (P Hanagan), which was racing to the inside of INNOCUOUS (GB), was impeded further at this stage also. At this stage of the race, racing to the outside of CURZON LINE (GB) was DUBAI ICONIC (USA) (K Fallon). On enquiry, it was established that leading up to the home bend, INNOCUOUS (GB) raced tight between CURZON LINE (GB), which was racing tight to the inside of DUBAI ICONIC (USA), and ALRAASED (USA), which had edged outwards in an endeavour to avoid the heels of JAASOOS (IRE) (J Doyle) as it gave ground. On making the home bend, DUBAI ICONIC (USA) had alleviated some pressure off CURZON LINE (GB), and as CURZON LINE (GB) then improved to the inside of DUBAI ICONIC (USA), DUBAI ICONIC (USA) drifted inwards slightly and CURZON LINE (GB) ran inwards away from DUBAI ICONIC (USA), causing INNOCUOUS (GB) to be restrained. On the balance of all of the evidence presented, the Stewards could not be satisfied that any rider was fully culpable for this interference and therefore no charges were laid.
