After arriving at the starting gates, the bridle of BURANO (IRE) (K Fallon) was adjusted. FINJAAN (GB) (P Hanagan) jumped awkwardly and inwards and impeded TRADE STORM (GB) (J Spencer). BURANO (IRE) was crowded on jumping between ANAEROBIO (ARG) (W Smith) and MUSTAHEEL (IRE) (D O’Neill). FINAL BUTTON (SAF) (P Dobbs) raced very keenly in the early stages and shifted inwards near the 1700m causing MASTEROFTHEROLLS (IRE) (S de Sousa) to be eased. FINAL BUTTON (SAF) continued to race very keenly and near the 1600m shifted inwards away from REROUTED (USA) (C Soumillon) causing QUICK WIT (GB) (M Barzalona) to be eased. FINJAAN (GB) raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 350m, ROCHDALE (GB) (R Ffrench) and ENERGIA DUST (BRZ) (T O’Shea), both which were commencing to give ground, were crowded and eased between FINAL BUTTON (SAF), which shifted outwards, and REROUTED (USA), which shifted inwards. MASTEROFTHEROLLS (IRE) returned having lost its left fore shoe in running.

SANTEFISIO (GB) (G Carroll) began awkwardly and lost ground. Trainer Mr K Dalgleish was advised that SANTEFISIO (GB) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to it being permitted to be entered to race again. Approaching the 200m, CAPITAL ATTRACTION (USA) (T O’Shea) was crowded and eased between HAATHEQ (USA) (R Ffrench), which shifted inwards slightly, and MOONWALK IN PARIS (FR) (A Ajtebi), which was improving quickly to its inside. At this time, MOONWALK IN PARIS (FR) also crowded OUT OF BOUNDS (USA) (S de Sousa) inwards towards the heels of TREBLE JIG (USA) (W Smith). Leaving the 200m, MOONWALK IN PARIS (FR) shifted inwards causing TREBLE JIG (USA) to be restrained. On enquiry, Jockey A Ajtebi (MOONWALK IN PARIS [FR]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was suspended from riding in races for four days (24 February 2013 at Abu Dhabi, 28 February 2013 at Meydan, 2 March 2013 at Meydan and 3 March 2013 at Abu Dhabi), to be served concurrently with the suspension imposed in Race 3. When questioned regarding the performance of DADDY LONG LEGS (USA), Jockey C Soumillon advised that the colt travelled well during the race but when placed under pressure in the home straight, he had come to the end of his run. He further added that in his opinion DADDY LONG LEGS (USA) will benefit from tonight’s run.
