MYSTICISM (USA) (D O’Donohoe) was very fractious in the parade ring. Trainer Mr S bin Suroor was advised that MYSTICISM (USA) would be required to paddock school to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to it being permitted to be entered to race again. MY FREEDOM (IRE) (T Durcan), SMOOTH OPERATOR (GER) (A de Vries) and SANTEFISIO (GB) (G Carroll) began awkwardly. MARITIMER (CAN) (C Soumillon) and MURAWEG (IRE) (G Avranche) both raced keenly in the early and middle stages, and near the 1200m, MURAWEG (IRE) shifted outwards away from the heels of MARITIMER (CAN) and carried MYSTICISM (USA) wider on the track. Passing the 200m, SAINT BERNARD (GB) (K Fallon), which was tiring, was crowded and eased between MY FREEDOM (IRE), which shifted outwards slightly, and MURAWEG (IRE), which was carried inwards slightly by FIELD OF DREAM (GB) (J Doyle), which shifted inwards slightly. Passing the 150m, FAMOUS WARRIOR (IRE) (T O’Shea) was momentarily eased when UNBRIDLED OCEAN (USA) (R Mullen) drifted inwards slightly. Approaching the 100m, ARIETE ARROLLADOR (GB) (S Foley) shifted outwards carrying CANWINN (IRE) (M Monaghan) outwards onto MY FREEDOM (IRE), causing it to be crowded out onto the hindquarters of FIELD OF DREAM (GB) and to be restrained from its position. On enquiry, Jockey S Foley (ARIETE ARROLLADOR [GB]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was suspended from riding in races for three days (2 March 2013 at Meydan, 3 March 2013 at Abu Dhabi and 8 March 2013 at Jebel Ali). A post-race veterinary examination of MYSTICISM (USA), which was eased down in the home straight and finished tailed off, revealed no abnormalities.
