Making the home bend, near the 450m, MUSHARAB (FR) (C Lemaire) drifted inwards slightly crowding AL MAMUN MONLAU (FR) (C Soumillon) in onto the tiring RASIKH (FR), causing it to be eased.

BARBECUE EDDIE (USA) (P Dobbs) began awkwardly. MASTER OF HOUNDS (USA) (C Soumillon) was crowded at the start between SARKIYLA (FR) (C Lemaire) and REROUTED (USA) (W Marwing). Near the 1500m, SARKIYLA (FR) was eased between HAATHEQ (USA) (R Ffrench), which drifted inwards, and SURFER (USA) (R Mullen), which was crowded outwards by ZAZOU (GER) (K Ulubaev) after it was bumped outwards by TIME PRISONER (USA) (M Barzalona). On enquiry, it was acknowledged that there was movement from both the inside and the outside, and as no one rider could be held fully culpable, no action was taken. After making the home bend, SAAMIDD (GB) (W Buick) shifted outwards crowding BARBECUE EDDIE (USA) out onto ZAZOU (GER), causing BARBECUE EDDIE (USA) to be restrained momentarily. On enquiry, Jockey W Buick (SAAMIDD [GB]) was reprimanded for breaching ERA Rule 69(i) and advised to ensure that he affords his fellow riders sufficient room when shifting ground. Approaching the 300m, SOFT FALLING RAIN (SAF) (P Hanagan) shifted inwards crowding SURFER (USA) in onto PENITENT (GB) (D Tudhope), obliging SURFER (USA) to be eased and altered course to the outside of SOFT FALLING RAIN (SAF). On enquiry, Jockey P Hanagan (SOFT FALLING RAIN [SAF]) was issued a warning and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to keep a straight course. Passing the 300m, MOONWALK IN PARIS (FR) (A Ajtebi) shifted inwards causing RED JAZZ (USA) (R Moore) to be restrained. On enquiry, Jockey A Ajtebi (MOONWALK IN PARIS [FR]) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ERA Rule 69(i) and was suspended from riding in races for four days (the dates to be determined in consultation with the BHA under the provisions of ERA Rule 99(i)). ZAZOU (GER) returned having lost its right fore shoe in running. A post-race veterinary examination of MUFARRH (IRE) (K Fallon) revealed the gelding to be lame in the left fore. Trainer Mr A Al Raihe was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required for MUFARRH (IRE) prior to it being permitted to be entered to race again.

IMPERIAL MONARCH (IRE) (R Moore), SEISMOS (IRE) (M Demuro) and SADDLER’S ROCK (IRE) (D McDonogh) raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey D McDonogh reported that the saddle on SADDLER’S ROCK (IRE) shifted forward soon after the start. Passing the 400m IMPERIAL MONARCH (IRE) raced tight to the inside of, and bumped with, AHZEEMAH (IRE) (K Fallon) for a short distance, as IMPERIAL MONARCH (IRE) attempted to angle to the outside of TENENBAUM (GB) (M Barzalona). Passing the 200m, AHZEEMAH (IRE) shifted inwards causing IMPERIAL MONARCH (IRE) to be restrained. On enquiry, whilst it was acknowledged that AHZEEMAH (IRE) had shifted inwards, it was also conceded that AHZEEMAH (IRE) had shifted inwards away from CAVALRYMAN (GB) (S de Sousa) as it had shifted inwards and quickened away. As such, given the contribution from CAVALRYMAN (GB), the Stewards could not hold Jockey K Fallon (AHZEEMAH [IRE]) fully culpable and therefore no action was taken. Over the final 100m, SADDLER’S ROCK (IRE) was reluctant to hold its position to the inside of TENENBAUM (GB) and raced ungenerously. Jockey K Fallon (AHZEEMAH [IRE]) was fined AED 1,500 for breaching ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i) in that he used his whip in the forehand position forward of the saddle.

EMOTIF (ARG) continued to race keenly through the middle stages. DICE FLAVOUR (USA) (J Valdivia Jr) raced keenly in the early and middle stages. KEIAI LEONE (JPN) (H Miyuki) raced keenly in the early stages and was eased passing the winning post on the first occasion. NOW SPUN (USA) (M Barzalona) raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 1000m, ZAHEE (NZ) (C Soumillon) raced in restricted room between DICE FLAVOUR (USA), which was racing keenly and drifted outwards, and HE’S HAD ENOUGH (USA) (M Gutierrez), which lay inwards. ZAHEE (NZ) then raced in restricted room to the inside of HE’S HAD ENOUGH (USA) for a short distance near the 700m. NOW SPUN (USA) returned having lost its left hind shoe in running. Jockey H Miyuki (KEIAI LEONE [JPN]) was found guilty of breaching ERA Instructions 8(ii)(a) and (c)(ii) and (vii) in that he used his whip to excess, continued to hit his horse when out of contention, and for using his whip without allowing time for his mount to respond, and was suspended from riding in races for three days (the dates to be determined in consultation with the JRA under the provisions of ERA Rule 99(i)) and fined AED 3,000.

FREDERICK ENGELS (GB) (W Marwing) and UNITED COLOUR (USA) (J Fortune) began awkwardly. TAISEI LEGEND (JPN) (R Moore) and MENTAL (AUS) (M Barzalona) bumped on jumping. Near the 800m, as REYNALDOTHEWIZARD (USA) (R Mullen) eased, KAVANAGH (SAF) (C Soumillon), which was following, was in an awkward position to the inside of KRYPTON FACTOR (GB) (K Fallon) and was eased away from the heels of REYNALDOTHEWIZARD (USA). Making the home bend, MENTAL (AUS) was impeded for clear running to the inside of TAMAATHUL (GB) (P Hanagan). Leaving the 300m, FREDERICK ENGELS (GB) was impeded for clear running to the inside of, and behind, GORDON LORD BYRON (IRE) (W Buick), which shifted inwards slightly.
