Shortly after jumping, AS ALKHATTAF (AE) (A De Vries) shifted inwards and made heavy contact with the hind quarters of QASSAM W’RSAN (AE) (R Mullen), which then crowded BAYAN (AE) (D Smith) and DHAWI (AE) (C Sanchez), in onto ZMAN AL AJAYIB (AE) (T O’Shea). As a result of the crowding, both QASSAM W’RSAN (AE) and MH DHAWI (AE) were eased. MH AREEB (AE) (S Al Mazrooei) jumped awkwardly and then raced keenly in the early stages. BARQ ELLIL (AE) (P Cosgrave) was fractious in the starting gates and reared up and got its leg caught over the partition of the gate. BARQ ELLIL (AE) was subsequently removed from starting gate, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed fit to start. Trainer Dr J Bittar was advised that BARQ ELLIL (AE) would be required to complete a satisfactory stalls test prior to being entered to race again. CERCINA (AE) (J Rosales) was slow to begin. ZERGAT LA’AYOUN (AE) (A Nicholls), AL MOTANABI (AE) (C Sanchez) and BARQ ELLIL (AE) were crowded shortly after jumping between MEDRAR (AE) (C Sandoval) and KAHEEL (AE) (D Smith). AS ALLYA (AE) (H Bentley) began awkwardly and then was reluctant to race. DHABABAH (AE) (R Ffrench) began awkwardly and then was reluctant to race. Near the 1600m, DHABABAH (AE) veered outwards inconveniencing AS ALLYA (AE). Trainers Mr A Manuel and Mr S Deeb were advised that AS ALLYA (AE) and DHABABAH (AE) respectively, would each be required to complete a stalls test with a racecourse gallop to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to being entered to race again. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, MOONA W’RSAN (AE) (S James) shifted inwards slightly causing MEDRAR (AE) to shift inwards away from its heels, and in doing so, MEDRAR (AE) bumped BARQ ELLIL (AE) inwards across MUTH’HEB W’RSAN (AE) (R Mullen), causing MUTH’HEB W’RSAN (AE) to be restrained. A short distance later, MEDRAR (AE) then veered outwards carrying MUWAJAHA (AE) (A De Vries) wider on the track. On enquiry, whilst the Stewards could not apportion blame to any single rider, the Stewards advised Apprentice S James (MOONA W’RSAN [AE]) that he must ensure that he is fully clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Also, the Stewards advised Jockey C Sandoval (MEDRAR [AE]) that in similar circumstances he should desist from attempting to take up a similar position, as they believe that he should have eased his mount to follow the mount of Apprentice S James (MOONA W’RSAN [AE]). Apprentice S James was fined AED 500 for breaching ERA Rule 57(v) in that he was unable to claim his full weight allowance to ride at his Minimum Riding Weight of 53.5kg for his rides on MOONA W’RSAN (AE) in this race and NA’EEM W’RSAN (AE) in Race 5.
