HACIENDA (IRE) was slow into stride. DAIRAM (USA) commenced awkwardly losing ground. Mr M Al Muhairi, the trainer of DAIRAM (USA), was notified that a warning would be placed on the colt regarding its slow nature of leaving the barriers. Near the 200 metres COLMAR KID (IRE) was cramped for room to the inside of FIRST KNIGHT (GB). Shortly after the start JOURNALISTIC (USA) was eased out of the race. J Rosales, the rider of JOURNALISTIC (USA), explained that the colt stumbled on several occasions, did not stretch out and felt suspect in its action. A post-race veterinary examination of JOURNALISTIC (USA) revealed the colt to be lame in the left-foreleg. Mr M Ibrahim, the trainer of JOURNALISTIC (USA), was notified that prior to the colt being entered to race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for JOURNALISTIC (USA) as well as completing a satisfactory track gallop in the presence of an ERA official.
