At the barrier stalls the saddle of DAMAR (IRE) had to be adjusted. POLYPHEMUS (USA) stumbled on jumping and Jockey T O’ Shea reported that the horse did not stretch out. A post-race veterinary examination of POLYPHEMUS (USA) revealed the horse to have a wind infirmity (laryngeal hemiplegia). Mr S Deeb, the trainer of POLYPHEMUS (USA), was notified that prior to the horse being entered to race again it must pass a suitability test conducted by the ERA Veterinary Officer. GREAT NAMOOS (GB) commenced awkwardly. Over the concluding 200 metres DAMAR (IRE) raced greenly. A post-race veterinary examination of GHOST ARMY (IRE) failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Over the final 150 metres HENRY CLAY (GB) and HACIENDA (IRE) raced tightly brushing on several occasions. A post-race veterinary examination of MOANNAA (GB) revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Acting under the provisions of ERA Instruction 30(i),(iii)&(iv), Mr D Selvaratnam, the trainer of MOANNAA (GB), was notified that the gelding would not be permitted to exercise, train or race for a period of 21 days, and following must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the ERA Stewards or Veterinary Officer.

Acting on a veterinary report from the ERA veterinary officer, who advised that LUTINE BELL (GB), when being saddled became unruly throwing itself down, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 3.46 pm. After being placed in the barrier ENCIPHER (USA) became extremely fractious rearing in the barrier and subsequently commenced awkwardly. Mr A Al Raihe, the trainer of ENCIPHER (USA), was notified that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its barrier manners. Over the final 200 metres RU’OUD (GB) had a tendency to shift ground. A post-race veterinary examination of ENCIPHER (USA) revealed the horse to have a laceration to the right jaw and a bruised lower lip.
